by Guest Niteowl- 4 replies

Hi all, I am working on a laptop for a friend, she just got it back from having the drive wiped and WinXP Home reinstalled. I installed AVG and it found 3 viruses, 2 of which were "RayMonE.exe" a web search left me still wondering what this is... a few sites say it's a virus, but there's no mention on AVG or Symantec. ?? the AVG put the files in the virus vault and I deleted them. I opened up the msconfig and the last line is for the Raymone.exe file... I removed the registry entry under the ..... Run key, but it still appears in the msconfig startup tab... How do I remove it from there... so I can put the msconfig back in normal mode? tha…

Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer--mouse freeze ups
by Guest Phisherman- 5 replies

My Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer mouse occasionally stops working. For example, when I'm reading posts using Forte Agent, the cursor stops responding and stays in one location. While the cursor is frozen, I can navigate using the keyboard, reboot, then the mouse starts working again. I downloaded the latest Intellimouse driver utility from Microsoft, but the Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer is not listed. I tried a few models anyway, but it still freezes up. I installed the original mouse driver (the CD that came with the mouse) and I still get lockups, but not as frequent. This mouse is about 5 years old and I like it (when it is working). I'm running…

Wireless Connection
by Guest wnfisba- 1 reply

We are running a notegook with Windows XP Professional. The wireless connection works fine for one user but does not work at all for a different user. Are there some sort of personal settings that need to be set for each user within Windows XP??? And if so, how would I go about mimicing the settings for the working user to the one that is not working??? The wireless connection in the system tray for the non-working user is disabled and I have no idea how to enable it. I would think that this would be a global setting for the entire notebook...not user dependent. ANy help would be greatly appreciated and Thanks in advance for your help. wnfisba

Now for some reason we've been having issues, so I deleted the GPO and server shares, but for some reason the workstations are still trying to sync. How can I remove rfolder redirection altogether? Thanks

input translation errors
by Guest BSigworth- 3 replies

I have 4 POS (point of sale) computers to our 2003 sp2 TS server. Each has a (USB) Magtek Mini Wedge MSR reader connected to it for credit card processing. The MSR readers emulate a keyboard as far as their input. When I scan a credit card with Notepad open I can read the input on screen. The problem is that in the Terminal Services environment I get translation errors when reading a credit card. Examples are; the case of some characters are changed (upper case instead of lower case or vice versa) also ? and / switch along with ^ and 6 (these mark beginning and end of data strings). Thanks, Bruce

Windows default settings

Greetings! I have a question about the desktop settings in Wondows 98. I have several old machines which have had all the settings changed, such as the mouse pointer style, system font, background, screen saver, etc. Is there a quick way to reset them all to Windows defaults with one or two clicks? Maybe a registry setting or something, so I don't have to open all those settings one at a time on each of my 25 machines? Thanks, Jay

How to create a replication server

Hello. I have to exactly server. Same model, same hardware. One server is a file printer server the other one was an exchange server. No I'm not using that server as an exchange server I would like to configure it to be a backup server. My idea is to have a exact copy of the file printer server. If for any case if the file printer server goes off I have the backup server (the old exchange) to work. Users wouldn't note the difference. Regards, Marco

I am not sure if this is the place, but when I type in xxxxxx.com or http://xxxxxx.com I can't get to the site. I have to type http://www.xxxxxx.com. I moved my site from Unix to Windows. In Unix I can add a line to the .htaccess file. How do I do this for IIS? Thank you in advance.
