Legacy Windows Archive ( Read Only )

Hi, I'm running Win2K SP4 Lately each time I reboot, all my desktop icons are rearranged in alphabetical order and my QL bar is reset to its default size (4 icons) I dont have "Auto Arrange" on nor the Arrange by name I searched the net and havent found a fix except someone suggesting to install an addon that would remember my i con position. Please help as it's really frustrating Thanks David

Hello... I have been using an external hard drive (250GB) to back up my work on a day-to-day basis. A couple of days ago I started my computer up as per normal but my External Hard drive was not shown in My Computer. I checked out the status through disk manager and it is now shown as 'Unallococated' with no drive letter. This has all my important documents on it and I really need to find out how I can get access to the documents and make the drive useable again. Any help is greatly appreciated. Many thanks, Ridders

I have a printer connected locally to our 2003 sp2 TS server that will only print if the user is a member of Administrators Group. There are several other printers configured on the server which work fine with only the user belonging to Remote Desktop Users Group, as we would like. I tried making users a member of Power Users Group, granting rights to, or removing restrictions on printing services with no success. The printer is a Zebra P330i (card printer). I'm running XP Home and just recently most new applications I've tried to install have failed with the subject error. I've searched around Microsoft and the Internet but haven't found much about this error. Can anyone shed some light/help. Thank you very much.

We have Windows 2000 and use DFS to use sharing on our files. All of the XLS files from Excel will not open in Windows Explorer, they give an error of "\\servername\" cannot be found. I double checked the DFS management on the server and it seems to be fine there. If I open the file from within the Excel File menu, it works fine. Any ideas? joe.ryan@directive.com

I need to sort files by date, but the dates that Explorer show are not actually the dates that a file was modified or created (I have both fields showing). They are actually the date that the file was last opened. Is there any way to truly sort by the date that a file was created or modified? Thanks.

Hi, When the Administrator connects to the TS on Server 2003 (Standard), Copy and Paste to my local machine is fine. When anyone else Connects the same way the Copy function just hangs forever and you can never copy. Our other remote site works in the same way without a problem. (Still looking for the different setting(s). The RDC "Disk Drives" setting is crossed also. I feel it may be a rights thing but cannot find it, any ideas? I've done a search on the forums and tried their suggestions for the past few days but nothing is resolving my problem. I have a malware/spyware and its really embedded on my c:\windows\system32 folder. I ran AdAware, Spybot, (with updated files) and Trend in Safemode to try and delete, rename....everything but nothing. Even tried shutting down explorer.exe in the task manager and it still won't allow me to delete this file. The specific file name is evenops.dll from Virtumonde/DriveCleaner 2006 and it keeps installing the same files every restart. They also appear in my registry which I can delete no prob. I have been having a problem with a laptop and I need some help. Internet Explorer. When opening a new window nothing happens and the page stays white. Menu Items such as View Source do not do anything. Event Viewer. When browsing Event Viewer i can't see any properties/ extra information of any of the items in it. Explorer. I was cleaning my computer 2 days ago. Cleaning the inside and such. After I finished cleaning, I plugged everything back in place but theres no power. My computer has not been turned on for almost 48 hours. Its been stuck on Power Save mode yet no power.(All electrical outlets are working.) Anyone know whats the problem?
