ESENT and DhcpServer errors in tandem
by Guest justmark- 1 reply

I'm getting an ESENT 215 error in my Application log at the same time I'm getting a DhcpServer 1010 error in my System log (both posted below). I've been looking for hours for the answer to this, but can't find anything. The server's Win 2003 SP2 and runs BackupExec 11D (did the same thing with 10D). It only backs up some user files and not an Exchange server. This is a DC at a remote location. Any ideas as to where I can look for a solution? Thanks! KB890830 and KB928365 updates keep appearing
by Guest ·- 7 replies

x-no-archive: yes WinXP Pro SP2: I have installed these two updates multiple times via Microft Update: Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool - July 2007 (KB890830) Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework, Version 2.0 (KB928365) Each time, the installation is reported to have succeeded. I have KB928365 showing in my Add/Remove list. Yet, each time I check Microsoft Update, KB890830 and KB928365 appear, as if I haven't installed them. I've also downloaded and installed the updates from the Microsoft download center. It makes no difference--the updates still appear on Microsoft Update. Why does this happen, and how can I get it resolved?

ASR restore fails to detect floppy
by Guest David Laszlo- 0 replies

I am running Windows 2003 Small Business Server SP1 on a standard HP proliant server. I have created an ASR backup set using a USB hard drive and a standard floppy. The ASR backup completed normally and I can see the 2 SIF files and the setup log on the ASR floppy. The floppy was preformatted using the same machine and has a data volume label of ASR. I ran a test restore to validate the ASR backup. At the point where ASR requires the floppy, I inserted the disk and pressed a key to continue. However the ASR routine continued to request that I insert the floppy disk and seemed unable to detect the disk. This issue has been repeated several times …

Files &^ settings transfer wizard
by Guest Jakes IV- 0 replies

I used the MS "Files and settings transfer wizard " to backup hopefully all my important data. Appart from that I backed up personal directories of importance. I assumed that this will backup my archived email sitting in "C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook". It reads "Local settings", it was supprising to me that after I do the settings restore that it did not restore the Archived PST files in this folder. My question is "was this files backed up and maybe not restored, is there a way to view what was backed up in the compressed file the wizard created and could a restore only selective data from this fil…

Logon Help Needed
by Guest Sturdy- 7 replies

Hi all, After a bout with operator head space, I have managed to make my dual-boot W2k Pro box unbootable. Now when I try to logon, the logon dialog returns after a few seconds. Oddly both OS present the same issue so it is likely related to a common cause. Here is some additional info: 1) I had re-sized partitions on physical drive 0 when this happened (using GPartEd). Somehow my old C: is now F:. The new C: is an old data drive (I:). No partitions were moved, just deleted or resized. I can boot into F: using a modified boot.ini on a boot floppy but it comes back to the logon. 2) I also resized partions on drive 1 where both OS shared a swap file. On…

Restoring From Backup Wizard
by Guest Simon- 2 replies

Help please! I run XP Home with IE7. Have just restored XP including SP2 and IE7. I have a backup of Desktop, Favorites, My Docs etc held on floppy discs and am trying to restore settings back to the original locations - Desktop, IE home page etc. Problem is that despite using the advanced settings part of the wizard, I can't get the files to their original locations. They transfer fine to the C drive but only as far as Documents and Settings where they just sit in a folder. Would be very grateful please for some specific instructions as to how to restore them to the proper/original locations. Thanks.
