Hi, We map the "my documents" folder as follows \\server1\users \UserLogOnName Today I was browsing through \\server1\users (using windows explorer) when I saw a folder with the name \\server1\users\documents (The icon was changed to the "my documents" icon). When I double-clicked on the "documents folder" the path in windows explorer changed to the correct name \\server1\users\UserLogOnName! Why did the name of the folder change from "UserLogOnName" to "Documents"??? Thanks for your feedback, Dani

newbie TS license ?
by Guest Don Cooper- 1 reply

I was reading the paperwork on the TS server and was curious about a few things. The TS invoice showed the Microsoft part number as R19-00846, however the "Microsoft Open License Order Confirmation" that came with it showed MS part no. as R19-00145. 5 copies, License prg -Open. Issue date of this license agreement 11-06, Last Date for repeat orders/End of Maint Coverage 11-08. Does this mean the licenses will expire on 11-08 and have to be renewed? Product Description: Windows Terminal SVR CAL Win English OPL NL User CAL When we increase the number of users from 5 to 10 can we just buy the R19-00145 ? thanks

MS Defrag Program No Good Anymore
by Guest John- 14 replies

Hi Folks, I saw quite a few peeps saying that the MS Defrag seems to have little or no effect on the speeding up of machines anymore. It seems like Microsloth has "sabotaged" its own defrag programme. Now even though the display screen "looks neater", this may well be a "White Lie" or even a "Black Lie". Other defrag programmes show such a Microsloth Drefragged disk as being Heavily Fragmented ! Why should this happen ? Possibly so that you will be encouraged to "upgrade" to Windoze Vista, when (Lo and Behold) the MS Defrag is suddenly working again !!! I believe that this "flaw" happened with a recent Windoze "Update", which co-incided with the Launch …

good virus program??
by Guest seaweed1317- 13 replies

I am running XP Pro & have always used Norton Anti-Virus. Recently it started "acting up", wanting to do a full system scan, which I did. But it was constantly trying to do this & there was always an error message on my task bat saying I needed to do this. When I did do it, it took over 4 hours as it did my main drive, a spare internal drive & my external. I removed it with the intent of re-installing. But after it was gone, I couldn't believe how much faster everything was running without Norton. So my question is, does anyone know of a GOOD anti-virus (not McAfee)? I don't care if I have to buy it. I just don't want Norton anymore & will…

I Have Vista Home Premium 64bit
by Guest C Jones- 1 reply

I Have Vista Home Premium 64bit installed with sky wireless broadband working perfectly, if you have a 32 bit os system, and you have the maximum amount of ram used up, youv'e effectively used up the full capacity that the operating system can handle, if you want to put more than 4 MB of memory onto your motherboard, on a 32 bit system, the operating system will NOT read >4MB ram. You will have to (youv'e then got NO ALTERNATIVE) but to upgrade your motherboard and oerating system to 64Bit compatability. The Gigabyte M55plus-sg3 (rev: 2.1) motherboard will read up to 16MB DDR2 Ram Max, so this motherboard can support any operating system on the market…

Hi all. I login to my domain pc using a non domain administrator account. Due to company policy i can only use my domain admin account when i need to administer the server. On my domain pc i have saved a customised mmc as i consolidate whatever functions i need to administer on the DC. However whenever i run my customised mmc i need to do a right click and select "run as". Is there a method such that whenever i double click the customised mmc it would automatically run as domain admin account? Thks in advance.

Installing a W98 Modem and Driver on W2K
by Guest W. Watson- 3 replies

I put W2K on an older machine that had W98. The PC is a P3 and had a combo 3COM/USR PCI (56K DFVJ CPCI PC98) modem on it. It's part modem and part sound card. On System->Device Drivers->Modem I found a 3COM/USR 56K INT FAX and installed it. When I rebooted, I got nowhere trying to dial out. System->Device Drivers->Modem showed it was there, but not operable. I uninstalled it and decided to install from the w2k install CD (drive F:) there. The wizard got me to a point where I could specify the source of the inf file. I gave it F:, but it couldn't find anything. There seem to be about 50 and beyond inf files out there. How do I w2k device inst…

Hi: This website http://www.graingerhonda.com/ou/savannah-honda// I cannot open with IE on a Sony Desktop with IE 7 installed. I can open this site with Opera 9.22 with same computer. The site is a redirected site. Also I can open this website with IE 7 on my Toshiba laptop with no problems. I checked the Security Settings on both computers with IE 7 and they appear to be the same. I have not been able to determine why one computer will open this site and the other will not with IE7. Any suggestions? Thanks

One time when I had to reboot my computer it asked me how I wanted to start my computer, can't remember the exact words. But ever since I made a certain selection my startup screen is not the same. It used to show the user accounts and now it shows a dialog box with a place to enter name and password. Can anyone help me change it back?
