Access Denied (Printers) on Served from Server 2003
by Guest Mr. Smith- 3 replies

I have a few printers being served from server 2003, latest service packs/updates. Problem is that from time to time, more than I would like to deal with and to the point where users are upset over it. They are receiving an Access Denied Error when going to use the printers. If I was to reboot the workstation that is experiencing this it seems to go away. Can someone please shed some light on this for me as I am in loss as to why this is happing, and need to correct it? I am in an active directory domain, the printers are shared to allow everyone print rights, and also to allow all users of the domain print rights.

Very strange error, I will appreciate your help When I'm trying to connect to a remote share from a Xp client to a W2000 server by IP, It doesn't work, It continously prompt user validation. When I try by hostname It's work, very strange! Both Machines are in the same domain, across a Wan link , Xp client at one side with the DC and the Windows Server at the other side. There isnĀ“t a firewall filtering the link At the server an event 5719 "No windows NT or DomainController available... The remote procedure call failed and did not execute" appeared every 2 hours. It seems a "ntlm" problem, I activated the netlogon.log why the NlSessionSetup: Sessio…

Computers on network shutting down
by Guest DougBlakely- 7 replies

I need to get some fresh ideas. We're using a POS system called TRS written in visual BASIC. Network is peer-to-peer, XP pro on all systems. Problem starts at the machine serving the data files for TRS. Windows just shuts down by itself. After serveral restarts, hoping that it was some fluke, the shutdown "spreads" to the client machines! I need an idea for some method(s) for troubleshooting. So far, we have tried: Format/re-install Virus & malware scans using various products Running a nework monitor on a couple of machines until one shuts down. None of the above yields anything helpful. Thanks all! -- Doug Blakely Blakely Communications …

by Guest dennisW- 2 replies

I noticed that the voice & music sounds from speakers on a friend's pc sounds slightly distorted when playing video (email wmv,eml attachments; youtube videos; etc). I can understand voices + hear music but they sound like they've been sucking Helium. I tried the sound & hardware trouble shooting in Help. Sound, voicde playback device: Realtek AC97 Audio. Settings = 'Full', 'Best'. MIDI music playback='Microsoft GS wavetable SW Synth'. Not sure if the sound was always like this. Is the only solution to find new sound driver or replace older speakers ? Can someone suggest solutions? I apologize for what could be a simple problem. Than…

Screen issue after installing SP2
by Guest jholland- 4 replies

I recently formatted my hard drive and reinstalled Windows XP. In the original installation, my screen resolution could be set to 1280x960 with a refresh rate of 75Hz. This was perfect. After upgrading to Service Pack 2, the 1280x960 resolution is blurry when set with a 60Hz refresh rate and won't display at all when set to a 75Hz refresh rate. Is there any way to fix this? Here's my system: Dell Dimension 2200 Intel 82810e Graphics Controller Proview 780 LCD monitor.

How do I stop I.E.7 from reloading ctfmon.exe. I am running XP x64 - I.E. 7.0 - 32bit version. On the advanced tab I have unchecked "Always use Clear Type for HTML *" and restarted the browser. I have unregistered the .dlls using the run commands "Regsvr32.exe /u msimtf.dll" "Regsvr32.exe /u Msctf.dll" I do not have "Alternative Use Input" installed with any Office Programs In Regional and Language Options>Languages>Details>Settings - only the keyboard service is installed. I open I..E.. right click on a link and open in new tab or window and it comes back on - reinserts itself into HKCU registry and then causes pages to hang and the brows…

Converting W2K TS Licenses to W2K3

I'm replacing a W2K Terminal server that supports many RDP connections -- with a W2K3 Terminal server. 1st of all - how do I determine the number of TS licenses that are currently allowed on the W2K server? Then can I "upgrade" these licenses to W2K3 CALs -- or just purchase new?
