I have a HP Pavilion 6511 preloaded with Windows 98 SE. Recently, I had downloaded and installed Security Update KB891711, amongst others. Since then I find that the PC is occasionally unstable. I also have a HP Pavilion 4509 preloaded with Windows 98 SE and this PC works as ever before! What does this Update do? Is it required to keep this Update? Thanking you Capt K Ripendran

How do I turn off the Pop-up Description Baloons. I do not mean the Folder and Desktop Pop-up Description Baloons, I mean all of them. They drive me crazy. As I scan thru a document or anything else, the damn thing keeps popping up. I mean right now, as I put my curser in this window, a pop-up description pops up and tells me to "Enter your message" I hate these things... HOW DO I TURN THEM OFF ????????????? Thank you -- Geoff

I am trying to install Dungeon Siege 2 on my comp but every time the game tries to open, a box stating "Exception Detected" appears and then another message appears stating that Microsoft has encountered a problem and it has to shut down. Then the game program shuts down. Can someone PLEASE tell me what is going on and how I can fix this problem. Also, how do I find or change the "resolution". I was told it needs to be set at like 1400 X (don't remember) but it is probably set at 800 X (don't remember). Thank You, Michelle =-)

RE: XP or Vista on New PC? As an IT Professional and a Vista beta tester I highly recommend Windows XP. As it was with XP you'll want to wait about 2 more years before Vista will be a viable OS. "unknown" wrote: >

I have a domain with a single server that is a domain controller and file server. I have 25 clients connected to the domain controller. They are a mix of XP and 200 pro with the latest hot fixes and service packs. The clocks keep changing back and forth 4416 seconds. I set the domain controller to correctly get the time from a military server on the internet. It's time is correct and stable. The work stations change several times a day. This does not appear to be daylight savings time related. This issue goes back a year or more. The domain controller was rebuilt a couple of months ago due to a hardware failure. It has a different name but the sa…

I have a VPN Connection (PPTP). I run my RDP connection through that. XP Pro cannot connect to windows 2003 server. Windows Vista has no issues. XP Pro can connect when on LAN with Server. Upgraded RDP clients on affected computers without any luck. Nothing shows on the error logs of the server. Error/Response is "This computer can't connect to the remote computer."

I was having problems before with my server, and they are still occuring. For example, I was just sitting on one of my workstations and noted the time was 5:30 PM, which at the time was correct, then within 15 minutes it said 8:00 AM, which obviously was wrong. I thought I had the problem narrowed down to excess heat and motherboard issues, but now even with the top of the case off it started doing the same thing. It also seems as if the computer freezes/becomes unresponsive when trying to login, but if I just bump the case or one of the connectors in the back, it comes alive, thats what makes me think this is not a software issue, just wanted to get…
