I have a server that originally was Windows 2003 SBS Standard. Then we needed terminal services capability so through MS we got an upgrade/migration pack and moved to Windows 2003 Standard and Exchange 2003 Standard. I am trying to install SP2 now and am getting a cryptograph error that the certificate could not be verified or update.inf could not be verified. I have tryed all the posts on microsoft including: reregistering all update DLL's renameinf CATROOT2 and letting windows rebuild it Deleting the Software Distribution folder contents rebooting Sometimes it gets farther but in the end I still get the error. Any suggestions? Thanks in Advance.

According to the below technet article, 2003 Server has the ability to set the length of how long the audit logs are kept for DHCP auditing. Yet it seems 2000 seems to only keep logs for a week. Am I missing something or does 2000 also have that option, and if so where?

Can someone please help me understand the KeepAliveTime and KeepAliveInterval parameters that can be added to the registry of a W2K3 Server HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters ?? We have an FTP server in which some connections are being closed after 2 hours. In doing research on the FTP software, we are being told to add the KeepAliveTime parameter to the registry to resolve the issue. I need help in understanding what this does. Thank you. Rachel

I have an application I wrote in C#, which sends an email periodically. The program works fine on my XP laptop, and on my Windows 2003 Enterprise server. However, I've installed the application on 2 Windows 2003 Standard servers where the program fails to send the email and throws an exception. Here's the relevant section of the C# code: try { client.Send(msg); } catch (Exception e) { log.Log("Error sending email:" + e.Message.ToString()); } And here's the error message from the 2003 Standard servers: Error sending email:Command not implemented. The server response was: Error: command not implemented All 2003 Server machines sit on the s…

Having previously installed WS2K3 SP2 manually on selected servers, including domain controllers and having no issues, other than that some 3rd party applications' management consoles don't work work with MMC 3.0, I went ahead and approved SP2 via WSUS for roughly 100 servers in a remote data center. What is % of Maximum Frequency (Perf Monitor)?
by Guest Pat Coghlan- 2 replies

For a long time I wondered why it took minutes from the time I clicked on a URL in an e-mail (Thunderbird) until the web page opened in Firefox. The problem is present on my Dell laptop, but it's generally not a problem with my desktop(s). I investigated several counters in the performance monitoring utility, and finally discovered that the counter called "% of Maximum Frequency" kept ratcheting up to 100%. See http://web.ncf.ca/~ff293/Images/For%20Newgroup.png I can't find a good description of what this counter really indicates. Can anyone shed some light on this please? Thanks. -Pat
