Legacy Windows Archive ( Read Only )

I arrived at a customer site today to enable their server as a TS license server. It is 2003 standard edition SP2 on a WORKGROUP. When I go to TS license manager, auto discovery finds not TS license servers. I goto the Actions menu and select Activate Server, nothing happens. No other windows open, that is the area where you would put the license key in. I have done many times in a domain environment. Is the fact that this server is not on a domain keeping me from making it a TS license server? Thanks in advance, Madison

Existing Windows 2000 Terminal Server is also Domain Controller. Installed new Windows20003 Terminal Server as member server. Disabled old Terminal server RDP connector. Should I deactivate TS Licensing on the old DC and activate TSLicensing all over again with the new licenses purchased? or just add the new?

I installed a Windows Server 2003 box on to an existing Windows 2000 server based network. I added it to the domain and set it up strictly as a file server. I then started to work on shares but ran into a problem. When I attempted to use the groups on the existing active directory they weren't there. For instance, when I would share something I would attempt to add a group on the existing domain but the group was not found. When I clicked on the "Location" button it only presented me with the local computer/server as a location and not the entire directory. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi can you please help I have a DVD rewriter that I am having a few problems with at the moment. I have flashed the latest firmware to the unit, the problems are as follows:- when powering up the computer at the wall socket the led comes on the drive all ok, when switching on the computer if the led's on the drive come on again at various intervals I know that the writer will 100% load as my k drive. If when booting up only the led flashes when the mains is switched on and no led's when I start the computer the drive will not load I then have to drop the 12 volt supply from the unit and re-instate the 12 volts in order for the computer to recognise…

When I create a new account using XP Home and switch or call the new user, I get an IE script error when the new user page opens. The error is non descript and I get multiple errors as I close them out. Any help? -- bumpa

My numlock turns off automaticly and when I use it only the 1, 4, and 7 keys work. What gives?

I have Windows 98SE and Word 97.......When I try to copy and paste something to word, it shows up as 2 gray boxes on top of each other, no text appears..Could there be a setting wrong?.....This happens in works also....... Notepad works, but I don't like using notepad because it cuts some of your words into when you print....Thanks

I am getting frustrated with this problem: XP system boots up and EVERY time it give me the "new hardware found" message. There is only one printer connected to it (USB) and a scanner (SUB) that both work fine. I have even wiped the existing printer OFF the system and re-installed drivers and such for it. It still works fine, but I am at a loss to figure out WHY it is "finding" a new printer at EVERY startup. Even tried turning PnP setting to manual with no effect. Any suggestions to kill this nag? ;-Deano

I have a co-worker that can't stand the tooltips when she's in Open or Save As dialogs that gives file info. I know I have to use the Registry to remove them, but can't find where. Please help!

I recently built a new machine. I took the disk from the old machine, installed it in the new and reinstalled XP Pro to pick up all of the new hardware settings, yet keep all of the installed software. When the machine boots, the My Documnets folder keeps opening up. The machine has operated fine, except for the folder opening, until yesterday. Different issue. Any solution to keep this from happening?

When an application crashes and you get the Win App Error Dialog, you can view a "details" text file. It shows the file is on your drive. @#!@#!! Microsoft deletes this file when you close the dialog. Is there a way to prevent the "details" text file from being deleted? Hi I was wondering if anyone could help me out with something that I should know how to do. When I have say 10 internet explorers open and 5 excel files - instead of 15 little icons on the taskbar I'd like it to default to grouping the icons as one button with the dropdown list of sites or file names(I know I have seen this before on other's computers). Does anyone know where this setting can be found and whether this is a windows setting or an application setting? Thanks for your help - appreciate it! Brian

(IE 7) In Internet Explorer 7 can you please tell me how to set it up so that the Window will Maximize it self all the way fully without me having to click the Maximize Button at the top right to do it myself when I click on to a link on a webpage to go to. In other words, can you please tell me how to make it permanent where I won't have to do that each and every time that I go on to a web page. As I double click to open the drive "C", it did not open but gives to "open with dialog box" or right click and popup menu gives "Auto" instead of "Open". it happen after use a Flash drive (USB). If it is due to virus, I already use a anti virus Avast v. 4.7 home edition current version of virus database "000756-1, 13-07" how can I solve this problem?
