When I type IPCONFIG on my home computer, I get the following: Windows IP Configuration Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : XXXXXXXXX.net IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.XXX Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1 Can anyone tell me the address I should put into Remote Desktop, to be able to see this from a typical office LAN? I have XXXXed out some of the values for security. Thanks! DeanB

"Lost" profile???
by Guest Mikey- 3 replies

Once in a blue moon, I'll get a panicked call from a user, "All my stuff is gone!" or something along those lines. Upon further inspection, it appears that a new profile has been created, that is in a folder called <username.domainname>. All their "lost" stuff can be found in a folder just called <username>. Copying contents from <username> to <username.domainname> usually fixes it but this time as an extra added bonus, it seems that every thing you do brings up an Office window, acting like it wants to re- install Office! Clicking cancel about 3 or 4 times usually gets around it, until the user tries opening that same file again! What c…

They can ping the server, but the server can't ping them (FQDN) The server can ping the ipaddress, but not the name. I have the client's vpn set to get its dns server from the ip address of the server I also have it set to register its suffix in dns. Any ideas?

Double clicking icon doesn't work
by Guest Bobby- 2 replies

Hi, I have an icon on my desktop which is a shortcut to an application. This application is one that you probably haven't heard of, called Magicut. It has worked fine for at least two years, but suddenly over the past week it has stopped working. When I double click on the icon, the hour glass appears for a few seconds, but then disappears and the application does not open. I appreciate that you probably don't know this application, but as a general rule, is there anything I should try when an this happens? It has happened occasionally in the past with other applications. I don't think that this is a problem with the application itself, but I can't be sure.…

I have downlaoded photos from my Samsung camera, rotated them and then renamed them in my camera software Digimax Viwer 2.1. After a few days some of the photos - and in some cases all the photos - cannot be viewed and come up with the message "preview not available". It is intermittent and does not happen to all photos. This problem seems to only have been occuring since using XP. All my other photos saved to disc when I was using Windows 2000 are fine. Please advise. -- regards David H
