by Guest Mike- 1 reply

I'm trying to configure my Citrix/TS environment with Group Policies so that when a regular user logs in, he gets access to one set of permissions on the server (restricted) and when an admin logs in she gets another set of permissions (unrestricted). Any good tips on making this happen? Thanks, -- Mike

Folder Permissions - Locations aren't populated
by Guest kamuiiv- 0 replies

Hello, My apologies in advance if this question has been answered before (didn't find a solution but perhaps my searching skills are inadequate). I'm trying to setup permissions on a network share - specifically on a folder within a network shared folder. I would like to have specific users/groups access to it and deny access to the rest. My first step is to goto the properties of the folder and then click on add under the security tab. Once there I click on the Locations button but the field is limited to just the local system. I can't change the location at all. Any ideas on how to change this? Is this an AD/Group Policy issue? I've found th…

License usage - Event 221
by Guest KBJM- 1 reply

I get this pop up....Warning: License usage for a product licensed in per server mode is nearing the maximum number of licenses purchased. consult the application event log or licensing from the administrative tools folder from more info. I checked the event log and it is informing me that Exchange is nearing its limit of licenses.....says we have 50 licenses and we are using 48 of them....HOW?.....there isn't 25 people working here.....is it still counting users that are no longer employed??....Isn't it going by the client (computers on the network) and not users that I assigned??? Should i be assigning them per user or leave it at per server?

by Guest Swapan- 4 replies

Recently I had to reinstall Win XP after a hard disk crush. Every thing went well nut I am not able to upgrade to Service Pack 2. I am trying both from Microsoft original CD and fresh downloaded pack. In both the cases after unpacking and checking disk space it starts some driver loading, but then suddenly the system reboots. After restarting in the right hand botton corner it shows upgrades are ready to install. When I starts that it reached the previous state of checking disk space and install driver and then restart again. I have tried 20 times but with same result. Can any one please help me ? Thanks a lot. -- A printer professional from India

Every few seconds, I get hourglass activity as some program is checking or polling for something. I looked through MSConfig and Services but can't determine what program is causing this activity. Nothing in my Start-up group should have this type of activity. Is there a way to determine which program is causing this activity. Any help is really appreciated. Windows dialogs partially in Arabic language on English XP
by Guest Tom Tyson- 2 replies

Out of nowhere, my XP system decided to start displaying specific system dialogs and messages in Hebrew or some other Arabic language. While most part of XPs built in applications and dialogs are still displaying in English, a number of them are partially or fully displaying in their Arabic version (right to left with arabic font). For example, this affects the control panel applets for Security Center, Bluetooth and the Networking Wizard. When I say it affects these items, I mean both the control panel labels and their respective dialog boxes including all contained text. Another example is the The System is XP Pro SP2 with all updates installed. …

Recently I have been nominated to take care of a network after a company that we hired bailed out on us. I had some training in the past with windows server 2000 but have forgotten alot of it by now. This is what I have. I have DSL coming in to a modem/4 port router which is provided by the dsl company. From there I have one ethernet cable going to a set of linked 24 port switches. All "admin" computers are wired to these switches including a Windows 2003 server machine. There are also several internet access only machines wired here for "clients" to come in and use. I also have one cable going from the first modem/router to a wireless access point,…

Hi, Trying to logon to a Novell server with Windows 2003R2 terminal server and the latest Novell client. The Novell login does not get processed so the user goes straight to the windows desktop. It is possible then to logon to Novell (using the same credentials) but I can't get it to process both Windows and Novell logon. Anyone know how? TIA

Windows XP Home SP2, Compaq Presario V2000, Lexmark 640 (actually Z645) printer When I try to install the software from (I also tried using the cd) the Lexmark site http://support.lexmark.com/cgi-perl/support.cgi?lxkprod=Lexmark+Z640 the installation fails near the end and I get the error: An error occurred during the installation of the device The specified print monitor is unknown. I tried running sfc /scannow because someone with a similar problem said that worked. No help. The printer previously worked on this machine. What's a print monitor? How do I get this software to install? What's going on here? -- (||) Nehmo (||)

Remote file sharing for large files
by Guest Coleman- 1 reply

We've got about 6 or 7 users in our office that work remotely on occasion doing CAD and drainage work. Does anyone know of a good solution for remote VPN users to deal with large files; like CAD data from AutoCAD and Microstation? I've entertained the idea of a terminal server before on Server 2003 to have them log into for that kind of work, but haven't gotten deep enough into it to know how well that works... especially with bloat-ware Autodesk products. If these users were only dealing with smaller files and lightweight software, I'd be fully confident in a TS solution. Having them copy the data to their local machines over VPN/FTP is not really a very g…

Hello, I am trying to do an integrated installation of Windows 2003 Enterprice with SP2. I can install fine the operating system using CD1 with SP2 integrated into it. After a fresh install using this cd the computer starts with SP2 already intalled. The problem is that when I try to run CD2, with SP2, I got an error that reads: "Setup cannot continue because the operating system edition is different from the Setup edition." If I try to use the original CD2, without SP2, I get: "Setup cannot continue because this product disk is incompatible with the service pack installed on this computer. To complete the installation of Windows Server 2003 R2,…
