ARTICLE> MICROSOFT: Learning from their STUPID VISTA MISTAKES!
by Guest leap frog vista- 16 replies

We all know that Vista is crap. Well not all of us realise this, only those of us who have a brain... MS, AT LAST realizes the many blunders it made with vista and is trying to correct them in Windows 7. Why are they doing this? Well because of fear. People hate vista and are turning towards other solutions. People hate vista and are making fun of it. People hate vista and are calling it the Me of NT. People know vista is slow and performs well enough only on 4 core machines with 2 gigs of ram or more. Totally ridiculous! Note: I posted this on the XP newsgroup for the XP users to warn them to WAIT until windows 7 is out. Don't throw away money on v…

Can't boot into Safe Mode
by Guest Sandy- 20 replies

Hi again Guys! Since my last post I've upgraded my mobo to an MSI and have 2x1 GB RAM modules installed. I quickly learned that Win98 grunts at anything over 1GB and ideally likes 512MB. However making an adjustment to the System.ini file as per MS KB article there's no problem with booting normally. However, if I wanted/had to boot into Safe Mode, then of course the startup files, presumably including the system.ini, are by-passed resulting in "not enough memory to initialize windows". Is there a work-around to this or have I lost this important bit of functionality? The only other alternative as I see it if something goes wrong is to then rely on S…

Using Registry Repair Tool To Fix Your Computer 1 2
by Guest jeremiah wright- 28 replies

Do you need a Windows registry repair tool for your PC, because you know that there are most probably errors in your computer? I remember looking for cleaner software when my PC started giving me all sorts of problems too. Having top notch software to optimize your computer's performance at all times is essential. 1. What Is The Windows Registry? It is one of the most important components in the entire system, yet many PC users have no idea about what it is! It is not hard to believe though, since we have never been taught about how to properly maintain our registries. All the computer's software, hardware and user profile settings are stored in the registry, m…

Since installing SP3, I've noticed that my computer will freeze for 7 seconds every few minutes or so. Rebooted in safe mode but no change. Checking for processes in Task Manager but nothing that spikes during the activity. The hard drive light goes practically solid during that time. Any thoughts? AMD Duron Processor 1.3 GHZ w/1.5G of RAM Thanks.

various windows xp problems after SP 3 update
by Guest PG- 3 replies

I have been having boot up problems, drives not showing up any longer, programs missing or files missing or not running errors. Intermittently I have bootup problems, then have to disconnect one SATA drive to get XP to load at all. I tried to install XP components again and it won't let me run setup. The CD-drive is reading since it opens the files but it won't run setup!? In addition, I had to do a system restore after I installed SP 3, so all of this started after the SP 3 was installed/updated. I also did a BIOS driver update thinking that might help with the bootup and HD not found problems, but it didn't help. I don't know what else to try or …

copy photo to cd
by Guest shaun- 6 replies

In "my pictures" when I click on "copy to cd" the cd writing wizard stars and tells me the process takes about 8-9 minutes. Near the end the last 2-3 minutes takes closer to 5 and then it kicks out my cd and tells me there is an "error in the writing process". I've tried numerous cd and cd-rws. I copied some photos once before so I know my drive is enabled. Am I missing something or do I have a bug? Thanks for any help.

"run as" command line & GUI
by Guest Ludo- 3 replies

Hi, I want to launch a software in a limited account but it requires administrator privileges. If I use the GUI command “Run as”, the software works fine. However, if I use the command line “runas”, the software doesn’t work correctly. When the software is starting, it launches a lot of child process, I think that child process don’t have administrator privileges ? How can I overcome this problem?
