I have Windows XPP, i installed Virtual PC 6, just to check how it works, fine, when i tried to connect to internet thro VPC i cannot, i got a USB Modem, the VPC settings and in Device Manager i cannot see the USB drive. Any ideas? Ravi

Hi, Any idea how to recover "lost" sent and received messages. While the Outlook Express was compacting folders, the program stopped responding 3/4 of the way. I had to terminate the program, after rebooting the machine, good portion of the messages had been lost. Thanks SJB

Does the bigger percentage of hard drive space used mean the slower the speed of your computer? I have 2 internal hard drives in my laptop and I am deciding whether I should install programs such as games on the hard drive which does not contain windows xp so that the program does not slow my computer (login speed, etc.)

I am running XP Pro SP2. User will be working on the PC, then the system will lock up, blanking the screen, and all of the lights on the PC, including the disk access light, power light and CD access light will light up. I am not able to do anything with the system at this point, can't use the power switch to shut it off, and must unplug the power cord to stop it. I tried to reload XP Pro, and get through about 3/4 of the install when it does this same thing again. Is this a hardware problem and if so, how do I check it out???

I have two domain controllers. If one of them is switched off, the other does not seem to take over. What could be wrong?

We have a Windows 2000 domain and a Windows 2003 terminal server. We are trying to see if we can limit most users to only having the option for one terminal session at a time to the server but do want others to be able to have more than one. How can we achieve this in the best way? Thanks. Robbie

This error appeared after I connected my USB memory drive, and after computer said new hardware found, locating software. Now it's prompting me to install Windows Me disk. Which I can't find right now.

Getting this error about every 12 hours, only on one DC. I have followed the directions in KB324383 and found the two accounts that it is unhappy about. Yesterday I found that one of the accounts was in the Login Locally section of the Default Domain Controller Policy and removed it. I didn't find the other one anywhere. This morning I still get the error and issuing the FIND command on the winlogon.log reports the same two accounts as yesterday, however when I run the FIND on the GPT*.* files , those two users names are NOT found in either policy.

Hi, I want to install new version of Windows Desktop Search, but most of my users have the Deskbar turned off and just use the little magnifying glass icon next to clock. Is there any way to install the new version with this setup by default, or retaining the old settings on the PC? Thanks Steve

Hi I have a Vaio FE31Z Media Edition laptop and when i press the Mute or Volume buttons the LED displays for these buttons no longer appear! Can you tell me why and what i have to do to fix or re-install the software please?

i have a Win2K3 SP1 TS server. i cannot get printing to work consistently. i found several articles on the GP for Fallback driver and enabled that on the server. everyone can see their local printers, but not everyone can print to them. for example, my home printer shows up fine, but when i try to print from Notepad, for example, it just spews out blank pages. in another vendor-specific app, it's garbage. is this just a simple driver issue? i'm thinking it is, but we don't really have the means to install every driver for every printer that might be out in our user community. i thought the Fallback driver was supposed to take care of that. any thoughts?
