by Guest usspskghws@mailinator.com- 1 reply

After trying out a few hotkey programs, I have gone back to plain ol' XP Pro SP2. Unfortunately I have now lost much of the WIN key capabilities. None of the "Microsoft natural keyboard shortcuts" described in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/301583 now work EXCEPT for the first and last in the list: · Windows Logo (Display or hide the Start menu) · Windows Logo+BREAK (Display the System Properties dialog box) · Windows Logo+D (Display the desktop) · Windows Logo+M (Minimize all of the windows) · Windows Logo+SHIFT+M (Restore the minimized windows) · Windows Logo+E (Open My Computer) · Windows Logo+F (Search for a file or a folder) · CTRL+Windows Logo+F (Sear…

Opps, relieve my irritation! Everytime Windows Explore loads the popup Select Skin File appears to haunt me for some past badness I've done. Of course, there are no skins in the default My Pictures folder. And what program wants a skin? Media Player? Let's get rid of this nonsense, Doug!

Bluetooth Ports
by Guest Gadgetgw- 0 replies

It would appear that Windows mobile devices can only work with COM ports 9 and below. My system had only port 9 free and i was able to establish a bluetooth active process ok. but after a hardware reset of the pda i now cannot make it link at the port level. It would appear that Com9 is already in use as a blutooth port from the previous installation and now i canonly get ports 11-20 or more. Does anyone know how to delete this com port 9 it doesn't show up in the device manager. Graeme

Microsoft's Internet Information Services (IIS) has come a very long way since its beginning both in terms of stability and performance. IIS 6.0, which is the latest and greatest version of IIS, rolls out with Windows Server 2003. How does it compare with earlier versions? Have the knowledge... http://it-techexperts.com/MCSE/GAIIS014.asp

win server 2003 sp1 - cannot change TS idle session timeout
by Guest kwadz- 2 replies

In our development environment, I can go to Terminal Services Configuration\Connections - RDP-Tcp properties - sessions and check the top box for override user settings, then select a value for all three of the timeout options (end a disconnected session, active session limit, idle session limit). However, in our operational system, when I check the override box, the end a disconnected session and idle session limit drop downs are still grayed out, preventing me from changing their settings. Specifically, I want to change the idle timeout from 15 min to 2 days, since our users keep getting booted whenever they grab a cup of coffee. I had one of …

i have a windowsNT network (server + 3 workstations) that is currently operating with honeywell XBS 1.7 (building automation software). I purchased a new server and 3 new workstations with windows XP...i set up the new pc's the with the same IP's and they work together (file sharing shared files/drives...) however, the XBS software is not working on all workstations. The server has two isa cards and runs the XBS software, it gathers info from the BAS and runs great ..they seem to be having difficulty share the specific LAN share file of the XBS... my question is: can multiple workstations run the same executable (XGMAIN.exe)...at same time?.. (if the e…

XP Pro continuous reboot
by Guest Homer Jay- 4 replies

I am trying to load XP Pro, the installation completes fine, and the PC reboots (as expected) but before Windows comes up it reboots. I try getting in using safe mode and get a blue screen, I can't remember the exact error, but its pretty vague (no mention of a driver etc) and only mentions trying to run a chkdsk/r on the hard drive. I have tried with 2 different HDD's and get the same problem, so have ruled out the hard drive. I removed and reseated the RAM, disconnected all hardware that I could, but still the same problem. The only thing I have not tried is removing the graphics card as there is no on board graphics, and I do not have a spare card I can…

I have an Advent T9202 computer (XP home) with two 200GB hard drives. I can defrag the C:\ drive ok but when I try to defrag the D:\ drive it becomes invisible in Windows Eplorer. I had to use System Restore to make it appear again. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what is going on here? Many thanks!

by Guest JD- 4 replies

I am currently working on test for the upcoming school year and can't find how to get the numbers to align properly before the questions when number 10. or 100. are needed. The alignment I get is 1. 10. 100. The alignment I want is: 1. 10. 100. so the questions will begin at the same point on each line. I am doing original entry and scanning some pages from other documents that are aligned properly but do not align after scanning. Thanks to anyone who can help. -- JD
