My Documents folder is gone!
by Guest tlotzerguard-usergroups@yahoo.com- 2 replies

I hid "My Documents" and the "Windows" folders on a Slave Partition (G:) on my HP at home, then told the Tools: FolderOptions: View to "Do not show Hidden files or folders". The problem is when I told it to "Show hidden file/folders", they are still invisible. Matter of fact all of folders I set to Hidden attribute are hidden also. I did a DIR in DOS and it could see the hidden folders, but I can't find a DOS command to switch a folder attribute to UnHide. The DOS command ATTRIB only works on files, though, I'm not positive on that one. I was going to make a new directory to copy the contents of the "My Documents" folder and subfolders to, but I ran a pro…

Robocopy & W2K3 R2 x64
by Guest Roger- 1 reply

Hey all, In past we've used Robocopy to replicate data for High Availability of our data on some web servers. We recently purchased new server to replace some older ones and these boxes run W2K3 x64. The issue, as we found out recently, is that Robocopy doesn't work on x64. Does Microsoft have a solution for this scenario and/or is there an alternate solution that will run on W2K3 x64 that will meet our needs? Please let me know as we need to move forward with implementing these new boxes. Does anyone know how to change the default so that when you open an application, the window is already maximized? I just replaced my monitor with an LCD with a screen resolution of 1440 x 900 and all windows open about half-size of the actual screen. Thanks

Sort of an odd question ...... desktop vs. laptops
by Guest Dave Cason- 5 replies

Hi Everyone, Here's sort of odd basic question. I have SBS running with about 10 local clients and I now have 5 of them who are going to laptops. So sometimes they’re here and others they could be working from a hotel, etc. We run Exchange and File and Print services and that’s about it. What’s the best way for them to get in to the network? If I make them members as usual then when they go out they won’t be able to authenticate to the server when they want to work outside the office. - Should I make them all local accounts and have them work in a workgroup only to be able to get in and pull mail, etc? - Should I create two profiles on the la…

Can't Open System32\Drivers folder
by Guest Pete- 0 replies

I cannot open the windows\system32\drivers folder. If I click on it with Windows Explorer I get the following error: "Refers to a location that is not available ..." If I right click on the folder and select properties the Size and Size on Disk show as 0 bytes and that it contains 0 files and 0 folders. I also cannot open the folder in Safe Mode. Yet, if I boot WindowsXP using Bart PE on my Flash Drive I can open the folder and see all the driver files it contains. If I boot with DOS and select the folder I get the following message: "Path not found" I seem to have the correct permissions - I am in the Admin Group Booting from the Flash Drive I was abl…
