Memory error message
by Guest rubyjack- 5 replies

Recently I've started getting a message when I close down an IE6 window. The message is 'The instruction at "0x6600accc" referenced memory at "0x6600accc". The memory could not be "read".' Microsoft yielded no answers. I don't get this message every time I close down an IE6 window, but I do get it frequently (65%?). Does anyone know what's going on? And does anyone know if this is a message I need to worry about? Thanks for any help, Dan Hacker -- ---------------- Beer is living proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy. - B. Disk Management Reformat Question
by Guest Dave- 3 replies

I want to reformat a USB external disk from FAT32 to NTFS. I have never used the disk management tool before. When I look at this disk it shows 110GB FAT32 with a drive letter. It also shows a 3GB area marked unallocated with no file system listed. The right click menu for this only gives the option for a new partition. Apparently I can originally only reformat the 110GB area. From what I can guess, after this reformat, I can extend the partition or something. Can someone please give me step-by-step instructions to reformat the whole disk to NTFS. Thanks, Dave

Lost wireless link access

I had a malware infection, and it was necessary to repair Windows files (Windows XP w/ sp2). I work for local court system, so the county tech. assistance did this for me. I own my own laptop computer with an infrared port. I use it to print my court documents on the county printer without doing a cable connect and disconnect. When at the control panel, there is an icon for "wireless link," but I am not able to open it. The device manager shows the device and tells me the item is working properly. When the laptop is in the vicinity of the printer, the printer infrared flashes to establish contact. Since there are no settings in "wireless link,"…

I have a Terminal Server running in a domain. All the User Profiles are roaming profiles which were set via an Active Directory Group Policy. In fact the same group policy deletes the locally cached profile on logout. The problem is the boot drive is running out of disk space during the workday when usres are logged in becasue the locally cached profiles are saved to this boot drive. I have another drive partition that has plenty of space and I need to know how to have the Terminal Server save the local profiles to this new drive, as opposed to the default c:\Documents and Settings.... please help -mike

I support multiple Laptops for multiple end-users. These end-users and their laptops at various times log onto, authenticate and connect to an Novell Netware Network tree. All end-users are using an Novell Client 4.91 SP3 for Windows program. At the initial Novell for Windows Log on screen, they uncheck the Work Station only box. They insert their Network UserName and Password, same as their Local Windows Account Username and Password. The two accounts are set in sync with each other. The correct Novell Network Tree and Context setting are confirmed. The Network Authentication process is completed and the Network Paths are mapped and connected. But during the loading of t…

Using Scanner with TS2003
by Guest Xavier- 1 reply

Hello, I met a new customer who is currently running TS2003. This is a small shop with 5 people. There is one PC (XP SP2) and 4 Wyse S-10 terminals. There is currently one scanner attached to the PC and the customer expressed the following need: they want to have one scanner on each desk. I would like to check if the following reasoning is correct: - scanner redirection is not supported without 3rd party application like http://www.remote-scan.com - Given the fact that Wyse S10 are not XPe devices, I can't install Remote-Scan on these boxes - I could connect 4 scanners (USB) to the TS (using 'active' cables, 5m length) and dispose them on the users d…

TS hardware requirements for testing application
by Guest Markus- 2 replies

I would like to set up and test my Access app running over the Internet using Terminal Services. I need some beginner help on the hardware and operating system I will need to do these tests. Could someone check my assumptions and let me know if I am on the right track? As I understand it: - I will need a server desktop or laptop with MS Server 2000 or 2003 installed on it. Both come with up to 5 CAL licenses for running TS. - I already have a high speed internet connection - I will need a workstation running XP Pro. XP Pro will include the capability to connect to a server running TS. As I understand it, XP Home does not. My goal is to allow my A…

SSO Fails on XP SP2

Dear all I don't know whether or not I should post this here or in comp.kerberos but I will do both. After successfully implementing a cross realm trust between AD and a UNIX realm, it seems that the clients that user SP1 can successfully have SSO to the UNIX machine whereas the SP2 people can't. Can anyone help me out, since I am not a Windows expert :-) The tool I use for SSO on the Windows clients is Vintella Putty 0.60 q1.129. Kind regards Miguel

Regardless of application running, my system repeatedly hangs up. A look at the Task Manager status indicates that one, or more, of the open apps is/are "not responding". The Process page shows that the "System Idle process" is the only thing active. Performance is at 1% or less. I run McAfee and run OneCare. And, have cleaned the registry often. Cleared cookies and temp files. And, defragged the disk. Six year old Dell x86 family 6 model 8 stepping 10 system, 128meg Ram, not upgradable. Opening the Task Manager seems to clear the problem temporarily but that may be a coincidence. Happening many many times an hour. Used for surfing, email, writ…
