I'm thinking of upgrading my cpu to an AMD X2 6000 from a X2 3800. Do you think the supplied heatsink/fan will do the job or should i invest in a better one?

As I like to have a 65nm-processor in my new computer and the motherboard I looked at didn't supported that, I'm looking for another one. The ones AMD list at their page as capable of stepping G1-processors (65nm) are the following: Anyone have tried or otherwise know something about any of these, and/or how they work with (fully patched) win98se ? I'm sure this is incredibly simple but I don't know the answer. We have an XP SP2 machine that has remote desktop enabled from the MY PC properties. We can remote into the box after someone logs in locally but if we reboot the box and no one is logged in, no one can remote desktop into the box. Is there a way to enable remote desktop so that people can remote into the PC even if the PC has just booted and no one has logged in yet? Thanks PS - I could have it autologon and enable a password protected screen saver but I'd prefer not.

F1 key wehn using windows vista to connect into TS on a XP machine

I am using windows vista to connect to an XP machine. I am able to connect to the host machine but i often get screen errors, but more importantly i can not get the host machine to recognize the fact that i am pressing the f1 key...the application that i am using on the host machine requires f1 for a number of functions (not related to help) My screen size is 1920 X 1200 (not sure if this matters, but i have run into problems before) I have also connected to a host machine using GotoMyPC (Citrix) and i have the same problem. Is there any work around or settings that i can change. Thanks Mark

Hi, We have some old NT boxes which we are looking to replace with new servers and would like to update the OS to something more recent. Is there a Server 2003 equivalent of Windows NT workstation? For the applications these servers will be running there is no need for Terminal Server, Domains, Active Directory, IIS etc. Basically I just want a rock solid OS to run our applications on, the alternative being XP. In order to save costs, do you think that the Windows Server 2003 Web Edition would work? Thanks for you help

A batch file containing this: SHUTDOWN -S -F -T 60 -C "Shutting down in 60 seconds" will start a 60-sec countdown and then shut the system down. Is there a good command line to make your computer hibernate?

Hello there, I am running ISA 2006 STD on a Windows 2003 R2 w/sp2 STD server that is sitting behind a Cisco PIX firewall. Before the PIX security settings were implemented it was allowing traffic via port 443 and port 3389 through. This allowed users via MSIE from the outside to authenticate through the ISA server which would allow access to a dedicated terminal server which they could log into. Now the only access the Cisco PIX firewall is via port 443. When this happened the users could still authenticate in through the ISA server and access the Remote Desktop Web Connection page, type in the name of the server and click on connect, however at the ne…
