how can I make my computer turn off automatically at midnight. Preferably with a password.

i want to upgrade my motherboard and have been told that if i so do and iboot up then windows XP will stop working and i will have to buy a new version of XP and have to start from scratch again !! When on-line and only when on line, my printer types the html info and not the infomation actually shown on the page. It is a real problem. Anyone had this problem or have a fix. I have not downloaded anything it just started to happen a couple of days ago. I did a restore point and reinstalled print drivers, but still no help. Steve

On one of my computers I can't make the drop shadows appear for the icons on the desktop. Regardless of how I choose that checkbox (Control Panel/System/Advanced/Performance/Settings/Visual Effects/"Use drop shadows for icon labels on the Desktop" ) the icon labels always just show with a regular font and a box of the desktop color (which doesn't look nice against the desktop picture). A minor complaint, but it would be nice if I could fix it. A registry tweak somewhere, perhaps? -- Gregg C.

I have an Windows 2003 SBS server using the exchange pop3 connector. It has been up and working and successfully delivering emails for over a year now. I am having a situation where we lost power and the UPS shut down the server. When it came back up, we didn't get any incoming emails for several hours. When we finally noticed it, we checked the ISP web mail and found the pop3 connector is pulling them. A reboot of the server fixes the problem, but the emails that were already pulled has disappeared. This has happened 3 times now. Does anyone have any suggestions??

Hi i get this error when using internet explorer "not always" but it happens when there is a flash or shockwave movie on the site. it shows an error and ask to close or send a report to microsoft. i know this file is a flash plug-in to internet explorer. it happens on both IE6.x and IE7. i already tried to uninstall the flash from the computer and install it again. uninstall the plug-in and install it again. i have anti-virus and anti-spyware and a firewall. already scanned with different anti-spywares and anti-virueses. am an advance user "Network administrator and systems developer" for XP so dont hesitate to give any solutions if there are any coz i …

Hi: About 2 days ago I started hearing a single or quick double click sound (it is a wave file because if I turn down the wave volume I do not hear it) at approximately 3 minute intervals; I timed it. I have AVG firewall and Aniti-Virus plus new Ad- Aware 2007. I cannot find anything wrong or a virus but this 'clicking' is driving me crazy. Has anyone had problem lately, is this a virus? Hi, I have two servers Windows 2000 Advance Servers working in cluster and the other day, the primary node make a reboot unexpectly, and after that I only have a MEMORY.DMP file 80mb size, and i dont known how to explore because there are a lot information that seems to be advice and not indicate the problem itself. I need to upgrade my W2K3 Web Edition server to Standard Edition (so I can install SQL Server). Can I just do this as an upgrade or do I have to reinstall from scratch?

Every time I stop my computer from (by pressing the enter button or sleep button on the keyboard) sleeping or stop hibernating or stop going in to stand by mode, my mouse and my monitor receive no signal. sometimes my keyboard and monitor stop receiving signal. So in order to use my computer i have to manually turn off the computer. (by pressing the power button on the PC) I have also used other monitors, other keyboards and other mouse. the same thing happens. I'd appreciated it if any one could resolve my problem.

how would one setup two w2k3 servers of standard editions so that ,say, A is file server and is primary DC for the domain, B is the exchange server is to be the backup DC? Someone was trying to tell me there is no such thing as primary and backup DC for w2K3 server
