I've just bought a new computer with vista home premium installed last week. anyways I started using media center and started watching live Tv. while watching, I paused it to get a drink. Before getting a drink the blue screen suddenly popped up. I know vista is still pretty new and may still have some bugs, and I respect that-but I just got the computer seven days ago-And yes i have firewall, anti-virus, and anti-spyware enabled. any suggestions to why it happened?

Computer reboots spontaneously
by Guest Walter R.- 11 replies

I am running win xp sp2. Computer is about 5 years old. 40 GB WD and 512 MB RAM. Everything was working fine. Starting this morning, and at intervals of about one hour, my computer makes a short buzzing sound, the screen goes dead, and the computer then reboots. When it reboots, it does not show the blue screen, asking for a disk check. Normally it asks for a disk check when the power is interrupted like this. The status report on the hard drives shows OK when the computer boots. I checked the temperature in the BIOS and it looks OK: CPU 40C/104F, System 34/93, fan speed holding steady with slight speed variations. What diagnostics can I run? What c…

Error connecting to Tsweb server
by Guest portlandjoe- 2 replies

The terminal server is behind a pix 501 firewall. The port 80 has been opened and I've connected to the tsweb website. I type in the IP address of the terminal server, and it gives me this error: The client could not connect to the remote computer. Remote connections might not be enabled or the computer might be too busy to accept new connections. It is also possible that network problems are preventing your connection. Please try connecting again later. If the problem continues to occur, contact your system administrator. If I connect to my cisco VPN client, the connection works, even when I use my external, not my internal, IP address to access…

Hello. I have a file that is accessible to everyone in the department (they are all members of the same security group). One lead member of the group, however, needs to be able to modify the file, and everyone else in the group needs to simply read the file. The layout is as follows: Root Folder - (Dept Group Has Modify Perm.) |_ Tracking Folder - (Lead Staff Has Modify; Dept Group has Read/ Exec/List - NOT Inherited) |_ Tracking FILE - (Lead Staff Has Full Control; Dept Group has Read/Exec - NOT Inherited) Something is wrong, however, because everyone in the department group can still modify the file. How can I do this? Any hel…

looking for multifunction printer compatible with TS2003
by Guest Xavier- 4 replies

Hello, I do have a customer who's using TS2003 (SP2, fully patched) to run an application from a couple of point of sales (XP Pro SP2). Printing is OK on ticket printers. The customer would like to add a print/fax device in the point of sales. I came across the following article that describes how to get DOT4 device working with TS: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=302361. If someone has connected such multifunction devices remotely to a TS2003, I'd be happy to know the device details. Any info or pointer would be appreciated. Thanks, Xavier

Windows 2000 TS PIN for Windows 2003 TS
by Guest MJ- 1 reply

Hello, First I am not a technical person so forgive me if I ask a really easy question. A client of mine has a PIN for Windows 2000 Terminal Server that they want to know when the install/upgrade to Windows 2003 Terminal Server, can they use the same PIN. Or do they have to go to the licensing wizard and follow the steps to go to the Microsoft Clearinghouse and get a new PIN? Does the PIN even exist for Windows 2003 Terminal Server? Thanks MJ
