Erratic rollover message behavior
by Guest icon challenged- 1 reply

At various times (no particular pattern) the roll-over message/hint is either not displayed in a visible area (partly or entirely hidden by say, windows tool bar), or not displayed at all. The biggest offender appears to be the date/time indicator (on the toolbar). By hovering the mouse icon over the indicator a small text box appears with the time in it). After a few checks on the time, the rollover box with time stops displaying. The only way I know to reset the functionality is to right click on the toolbar and select adjust date/time. Even without making any changes, after closing the setup window, the rollover display is good for a few more che…

I need to replace a network adapter on one of our domain servers. Can someone direct me to all things I need to do in settings to make sure it works fine. I was planning on using the same static IP address but I don't have to if it is better not to. This is our SQL server and not a domain controller. Thanks. David

I am having problems administrering a Win2003 Server R2 IIS website from Windows XP. I installed the Adminpak.msi from the \I386 folder of disk 1 of the Server install disk, but I continue to get an error message stating I can't administer a IIS6.0 system from an IIS5.1 system when I try to connect to the Win2003 server IIS using the mmc snap-in. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks in advance. Please post any replies to the newsgroup. Ken Note: This was previously posted on microsoft.public.windows.server.setup but there were no responses (hence, the cross-posting here).

Where Did the Printers Go?
by Guest ll- 1 reply

Win XP Pro + SP2 + updates Tried to print this morning and got an error msg. CP -> Printers & Other Hardware -> View installed printers shows _nothing_. Everything that was there (two printers that we installed previously, plus the standard Win stuff, e.g., fax) are _all_ gone. What causes this? How can I restore them? I can reinstall the two printers that we have if I have to, but what about the original MS items (can't remember all of them, fax, etc.)?

Using xcopy for "cloning" your C; drive???
by Guest surface9- 19 replies

I read on a previous post (can't find it now) that windows xp has a command to make a bootable copy of a bootable drive if the bootable drive is connected as a slave and the bootable copy was formatted by xp. The command quoted was: xcopy d:\*.* e:\*.* /s/e/y/o I tried this but the "bootable" copy would NOT BOOT. I got the following error message: NTLDR is missing. The bootable drive I used (mounted as a slave) is still bootable (when I mount is as the master, 1st bootable device). When I mounted it as a slave (and marked NOT BOOTABLE in the BIOS), and then ran the xopy / s/e/y/o command to my e: drive I noticed that the command ended normally but abo…
