I've looked up and followed all the directions I could find on this topic, but I'm still having problems. I simply want to add a select group of users, primarily consultants, to the local administrators group - this allows them to fiddle with their software, but I want their server access to be restricted. I created a domain group, added them to it, then added this group to Restricted Groups and then added "Administrators" to "this group is a member of". I also tried it by adding users to the upper section. In the main, it worked, however it kept adding either the group or users that I had added to the Restricted Groups, into the domain administrators…

Hi, I had to reinstall WinXp-home due to technical problems. After reinstalling, I cannot access the voice playback (control panel>sound&voice>voice tab, test sound etc..), all the options in most of the tabs shaded gray i.e. cannot be activated! Onboard audi is enabled and is working. When I try to play any music, sound etc. I get the message - " Cannot not locate Dpvsetup.exe file, use install/uninstall to load the file"! I looked up Mcrosoft Knowledgebase - and an acticle advises "to move the hardware acceleration bar to full" and then adjust the registry. But there is noway I can access the hardware acceleration as every option is "grayed…

For awhile now I have been playing World of Warcraft and haven't had any problems. Recently however I have been freezing up or rebooting out of nowhere. I was wondering if anyone has had this problem as well and what the potential cure for this is.

Hello, I have created AD accounts for some services running on multiple servers. I would like to secure those accounts by making it so that the service account could not be used to login to a system locally (i.e. at the console). In RedHat I can accomplish this by giving the account the /sbin/nologin shell as their default shell. How do I accomplish the same in Windows. Thank you, Bill

In Windows Explorer, when I right click the mouse, a menu comes up that has been modified by several applications that I added. How do I add to or edit this menu? TIA

Dear all, I have a problem while I installed .NET 3.5 on Microsoft Windows Server 2000 and I have got the error message as below: The procedure entry point HeapSetInformation could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll. Is that because of Microsoft .NET 3.5 does not support in Microsoft Windows 2000? Is there any ways in order to make it works? Could you please help me about this? I look forward to hearing from you. Hello. I can disabled / delete the Recycler bin on USB-Harddisk, But windows XP sp2 always creates a Recycler if i un-plug / plug the USB-Harddisk. Is there a way to tell windows not to recreate the Recycler on USB-Harddisk? thanks.

Daughter's PC, XP/SP2, Media Player won't start, missing DLL. No internet connection so cannot update to a newer version. Is there a standalone download for WMP 11 which will install without that connection or alternatively how can I fix WMP 9, perhaps from XP CD? -- Kenny Cargill

Having this trouble again, but link to old post expired/post no longer found. I have a duplicate Outlook icon that keeps reappearing after I delete it. It is the all too familiar /recycle icon that Windows loves to toss out about once every five reboots. Please help (again - sorry!)! BW

Upon right-clicking on a drive in "My Computer" and selecting Properties, we are presented with a box with four tabs..."General" "Tools" "Hardware" and "Security". In the Tools tab, we have the option to check the disk for errors. I do this about once a month. In the check disk options, I do not select anything and then hit Start. It only takes a few minutes and then a dialogue box pops up simply indicating the the task is completed. Does this mean there were no errors found? I find no way of viewing a report.

I am trying to migrate DHCP services to a new server. The old server is action a DC and running DHCP. My Steps: 1. Install DHCP server on new machine 2. Stop DHCP on old server and unauthorize the scope 3. Migrate scope from old server to new server 4. Start DHCP on new server and authorize Restarted both machines and I cannot pull an IP. When I go back everything works fine. Any help would be appreciated.
