The correct directory structure is in place, but why are they all empty? the BKF file is huge, so the data must be in there somewhere?! What am I doing wrong?! Any help would be really appreciated. minimum permission to connec to network printer
by Guest Ehren- 6 replies

Hello- I am having an issue on some of our "restricted access" computers in connecting to network printers. It says you do not have permission to connect to network printers when I browse to the location of the printer and right click it and click connect. I actually have a script set up that automatically maps the printer. When i add the user to the administrators group it works, when i remove them it doesnt. I am wondering what the minimum permissions or rights on the computer the user must have in order to map a network printer. Thanks!

Re: Error 0x80070006 when configuring Win2K Server

Re: Error 0x80070006 when configuring Win2K Server I know this thread is quite old, but I have run into this same problem. The error is caused by sysocmgr that runs to install iis and other Windows components. To get rid of this error, go to the control panel, add/remove programs, add/remove Windows Components, locate the Management and Monitoring Tools. You can remove the entire thing or just the subcomponent named "Connection Manager Components". The error will go away after this point. I am using Windows XP professional. I not sure if I can explain correctly but this is what I did. I was trying to install adobe flash player. It seemed like it would install but never work. It did work in Mozilla though. Anyway I went to adoble for support and from the systems I read I decided that it must be a privelidge issue. I have administrater privledges but not the administrater. If that makes sense. Adobe had directions on how to fix this problem. I had to go the regedit not sure which one and compare my screen with them one they showed as correct. The only significant differance was at the bottom of the screen, it showed 2 different settings to ch…

WINDOWS 98 QUESTION!
by Guest Brusso- 1 reply

I have this old scanner for Windows 98 which is called Pagis Pro 3.0 and will not work for Windows XP at all. What I want to do is to save these files on to a disk and save them to my other computer that has Windows XP and be able to see them on that computer as well as send them to someone in an E-Mail whether it be a picture to a document or anything else I've scanned as well also. I just want to be able to see these files on my computer that has Windows XP and for other newer versions of Windows that come out in the future for the same reasons as well also. This is also because that other computers may not have these type of conversion files and will on…

Hi All, I have a server hosting an application that talks between 2 different networks. Consequently, I have 2 nics in my server, nic1 = 192. nic2 = 10. I have TS (In Admin Mode) forwarded through the firewall at nic1. This works fine, until I enable nic2. Then the TS client times out. Any assistance is much appriciated.

Moving from an ABIT KD7A MB to a ASUS P5NSLI MB
by Guest W. Watson- 1 reply

I'm about to start building a new PC with an ASUS MB (SATA/PCI, PCIe, IDE, etc.) from the remnants of a PC with an ABIT MB (IDE/PCI). The old PC has W2K installed on its C-drive. I've been told it might be possible to do a transfer of the OS, apps and data from the old PC to the new PC using something like Norton Ghost or Achron (sp?). I would mount the old (IDE) HD as the D-drive, and the new SATA drive as the C-drive. Is that true? I would expect to have to find new drivers. Is that pretty much it? Where would I get the drivers and how would I know which to find? Is W2K going to tell me when I try to boot up on the new system? It's tempting to do thi…

Upgrading from Windows 2000 to 2003

About to start this process (finally) I thought I'd save myself some time by getting some experienced advice on the most straightforward approach relative to my setup. I have two 2000 servers, both domain controllers. I want to add a 2003 server to the mix. This machine will serve as the primary file server, database, backup, etc. I'm thinking I install it as a domain server, with the lovely replicated user accounts, dns etc. Move the files using the migration tool from MS, then upgrade the other 2000 machines to 2003 and switch to 2003 native mode from the windows 2000 mode after the new server has been humming for a bit. Is this the easiest path to fo…

mapped drive problem

Hi - I am setting up a new server (winodws 2003 R2) and am in the process of doing the data migration - However - when I change the map drives to the new server. It is hanging onto the old paths. I found a solution to that by adding a net use P: /delete at the beginning of the script, then mapping the drive correctly. It works EXCEPT... it then throws in a Z:\\oldserver\oldpath drive??? I can't figure out where it is getting that from or how to get rid of it??? - Any help would be appreciated!!!! thanks in advance for your time!!!! -- Cindy B

DHCP Netsh export Fails
by Guest Jen- 4 replies

Im having the same issue as a previous post that was not answered(2003 Server) Another admin had tested doing an netsh dhcp server export on one of our dhcp servers. She then did an netsh dhcp import of the same data back to the same server, as she was testing that the active leases would still be available........(sigh) Now that its time to export and move the scope data to another server when I run netsh dhcp server export c:\dhcp all, I get an error "An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format" and a c:\dhcp.txt file with only one line "1K2W. So it seems that something got hosed up doing the previous export or import. Anyone …
