How to read minidump file.
by Guest Plasticman- 0 replies

Hi, I am attempting to read a minidump file and it says I have loaded the wrong symbols. I have downloaded the correct symbols from the Microsoft website and installed them. In the debugger I point to the symbol path but no matter what I symbols I point to after I run the debugger it says that my symbols are incorrect. I guess I need some instructions on how to use the debugger. I tried the knowledge base and attempted to do what it recommended but had no luck. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Steve -- Steve Systems Administrator PSI

Hello @ all, I have following problem with update.exe on a Fujitsu Tablet PC (OS: Windows XP): The Problem occurs the first time as I tried to install IE7 because there was a problem to play embedded streaming media player videos with IE6. Unfortunately, the installation aborted with an update.exe error. An IE Error Log wasn`t written at this time . A Windows Media Player 11 Installation aborted with the same Error. The Event Log (Application) shows following entry: Source: Application Error Categorie: None Typ: Error Event ID: 1000 Description: Missed application update.exe, version 6.2.29.0, missed module ntdll.dll, Verion 5.1.2600.2180, error a…

Hello Everyone! I have a Dell Inspiron 1000 with Windows XP, and since last week I am having problem with playing music files or DVD either on WMP and even iTunes. I reinstalled the sound card (SoundMax), installed DirectX, troubleshoot...it still doesn't play sounds, not even the system sounds. However, the I can hear the *.mid files play. I really don't know what to do next. Someone suggested that I downloaded K-lite codecs, which I did but it was not of much help. The music files just don't play on iTunes and I keep getting the C00D11BA error message : no sound device is intalled etc. I followed the link posted by Chris Lanier but nothing suggested wo…

Disabling a GPO logon Script
by Guest Alex Anderson- 8 replies

Hello Everyone, We have a GPO logon script that users get when they log into their computer or TS. Our goal is disable the logon script when users log into the TS server. I found the KB article (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/924034/en-us) that explains the process however the script still runs when a user logs in. I'm not sure if it's because the script is tagged to a GPO or if the KB article is meant for entirely something else? I did get help from the VB script people on how to exclude certain computers from running however I thought it would be much easier to just disable the logon script feature on the TS server. Any help would be much appr…

My windowsXP's search => weird results! (only text search seems to work, not filename)

My windowsXP's search => weird results! (only text search seems to work, not filename) My WindowXP almost completely has given up the ability to search. Help! It seems to ignore whatever I put into "All or part of the file name:". (e.g. "*.*" or "html" or "doc" ...} all yeild no results. Strangely however if I enter something into the "A word or phrase in the file:" (e.g. "the", then I get lots of results, AND they are filtered by whatever I have put into the "All or part of the file name:" field Any suggestions? changing contextual menu
by Guest Wally Wombat- 5 replies

Hi When I connect my digital camera to my computer I get a pop up menu with a selection of options in it. Although I have not loaded any software that accompanied the camera, it recognises it as a Canon Powershot and list all kinds of options save "open in a folder". As this is the very one I am looking for it is a bit frustrating, is there any way of getting this option into this pop up menu? Let me add, if I slide in a flash drive it does give me this option. Waiting in anticipation... Wombat -- Eats, roots and leaves.

MS Document Image Writer not working
by Guest Mike- 2 replies

Hi folks, I have one user on TS using Office 2003 and she prints files periodically to the MS Document Image Writer driver that is installed with Office 2003. I think the way it works is that you select that driver to print to, and it will pop us a 2nd screen with a preview of the image and you can then print or save the file. She actually uses it to save the file. This has stopped working for her since Friday, the 2nd screen never comes up, when you hit "save" on the "save as" screen, it just goes away and doesn't save. Any ideas? The only thing that changed recently was a couple of Windows updates over the weekend. I will go see if I can find o…

Dialog Box changed its default language
by Guest kevinlaikf@gmail.com- 2 replies

Recently I had evaluate chinese-made terminal access device (microstation), as the original application was in Chinese language, and I asked for an English version. To my horrors, after installing this english language version of the 3rd party terminal services, most of my dialog box had been transformed to Chinese language. Even after uninstalling the whole package, it remains in Chinese language (just the dialog box). I had changed all the settings in Regional Settings ("simplified chinese is checked and grey-out"), and its seems the only possible way is to re-install my OS to get the dialog box back to English. Anyone know where are the language settin…

Procedure to clean install Windows XP SP 1 and SP 2
by Guest JD_busi- 6 replies

What is the procedure to install Windows XP SP 2 if I am performing a clean install of Windows XP SP 1 first? Do I need to load the latest hardware drivers and run Windows Update before I install SP 2, or can I just load SP 2 immediately after installing XP SP 1? Should Anti-Virus and Internet Security software be installed after SP 2 or before?
