What is the function/purpose of the Terminal Services\Sysprocs registry entry?
by Guest Bruce Sanderson- 3 replies

We're using Office XP SP3 in Windows Server 2003 SP1 Terminal Services/Citrix Presentation Server Version 4 on 26 Terminal Servers. We're using Terminal Services Roaming Profiles specified by a GPO. We're having a performance problem for some users of Office and ctfmon.exe has be fingered as the culprit. We're currently experimenting with a logon script to set the per user registry entries as specified in the "Additional Steps for Terminal Server Environments" section in http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=326526. Although the logon script appears to be working correctly, we're finding that something is starting ctfmon.exe anyway for some users and th…

My wife's laptop won't boot up. I can access the files on the HD by using a linux livecd. That tells me that the file table is still OK so there must be something wrong with the boot sector. Either it got overwritten or it has gone bad. We can't find the original Windows CD that came with it. What can I do? Thanks for any help.

To display all the shares given to others
by Guest ykffc- 3 replies

In a machine running Window 2003 server, I've created a dozen of shares from various folders of the local disk drives for other users to access. Say folderA, folderB, ... are shared. If all the folderA, folderB, ... are sitting under the root directory, I can see them quickly but what if they are not. I thought there must be some buildin Windows functions to show the location of all these shares but I can't find them. Do I miss something? thanks.

Can't revert to "Show Hidden Folders"
by Guest rubyjack- 9 replies

I have previously posted this problem, but now I have some new info. As the subject says, I can't revert to "Show Hidden Folders." I have gone into Explorer>Tools>Folder Options>View> and ticked "Show Hidden Files and Folders -On." Everyone suggested that I check this first. However, when I was poking around in the registry I found the following settings. It seems to me that they are not correct for showing hidden folders. I have played around with them some, but to no avail. I thought someone more knowledgeable than me might spot a problem. Thanks for any help, Dan Hacker Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Softwar…

Hi, I am using XP Professional. On my Task Bar (immediately to the right of the Start button) I have a few icons, and IE7 was definitely there, but has suddenly disappeared. It has not disappeared as an unused icon, as I use it all the time! How can I get it back there, and any suggestions as to why it disappeared? Many thanks. Trish

New Hardward Wizard opens at boot up for USB Video Adapter VA11A
by Guest Alabama Yankee- 0 replies

I am using a Compaq Presario SR1710NX with Windows XP and SP2. I have a X10 Wireless Camera System hooked into my computer. Included with the system is a X10 USB Digital Video Converter. Even though I have installed the software for the Converter, and it is working just fine, each and every time that I boot up my computer, the New Hardware Wizard opens up, and wants me to install the software for the particular piece of hardware. I have to close the New Hardware Wizard every time, because if I try to install what it wants me to install (which is already installed), I end up with the "Blue Screen of Death", and have to do a hard shutdown on my computer a…
