I am trying to automate the install of the Network Service "RPC over HTTP Proxy." Is there a way this can be done using sysocmgr.exe? I have searched but cannot find the correct entries that would need to be populated within the text file that gets called. Thanks

Good Morning and thanks in advance for you assistance. I work in a school and have muliple network printers throughout labs in my building. I have all of the printers configured on a dedicated W2K3 Print Server and then mapped within each lab for the printers I wish them to have when they logon. I would like to redirect the jobs to the teachers workstation so she can approve and allow to continue to the printer device. I have this running in another lab that has high end Xerox printers that come with dedicated SUN machines that are running software to do this. I redirected the printer through the ports > configure tab and point it to a queue name a…

Memory Leak

Hello everyone, I have a Windows 2003 server, Standard Edition. The server is running Exchange 2003, all functions, including OWA. I have been troubleshooting IIS on this machine for a bit of time now. IIS will run fine for a few weeks and then will stop accepting new connections, producing error messages in the httperr.log file. My troubleshooting steps led me to a memory leak issue on the server, as described in this article: http://blogs.msdn.com/david.wang/archive/2005/09/21/HOWTO-Diagnose-IIS6-failing-to-accept-connections-due-to-Connections-Refused.aspx I have been following the suggestions from David Wang and did find a memory leak. My issu…

For the last five days, every time I shut down my computer it tells me updates are waiting to be processed. Every time I process them & it shuts down; but next time, it says there are 2 updates waiting to be processed again. Is it usual to get this many updates, or is something else going on?

Post transferred from http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx?dg=microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general Let's say I got 5 Terminal Servers in a single domain and all my users are being distributed over these 5 servers when they log on. User JaneDoe ends up on server 1 on Monday and goes on the internet and stores some data from the forms she filled out. At the end of the day she logs of and on Tuesday she logs in again, being diverted to server 3. When she visits the exact same site (which, for matter of troubleshooting is only being server by one webserver), her stored data is gone and IE7 doesn't give her the option to fill ou…

Hello, We have several XP SP clients in our network that have a lot of following entries in their eventlog. I'm trying to determine the cause for these but have been unable to get any definitive answers so far (by googlin' etc...). Here are the events: Event ID1030 in the Application log Event Type: Error Event Source: Userenv Event Category: None Event ID: 1030 Description: Windows cannot query for the list of Group Policy objects. A message that describes the reason for this was previously logged by the policy engine. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://support.microsoft.com. And Event ID 40961 in the system log …

How Change Share Name?
by Guest Jethro- 1 reply

I want to change the share-name of a folder on local machine. I brought up Windows Explorer and right clicked on the folder - then selected 'Sharing and Security'. I try to change the share name in the resulting window, but it won't let me. Why not? I tried the same thing with a folder that as of now had not yet been set up as shared and lacked a share name, and it lets me enter a name just fine - so something is different in the first case. What am I doing wrong? Thanks Jethro

I am trying to transfer a Windows 2000 install to new hardware and the system hangs and reboots on one of the drivers. For some reason, starting in Safe Mode is *not* displaying the list of drivers as it usually does, on the new system. What would cause that and is there some extra step I can take that would force display of each driver as it loads? -- Will

Hi, I am trying to install Enterprise Instrumentation Framework (EIF) on my Windows Vista machine. However, the installation always fails and is rolled back. Here is the error message I receive: "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor." Can anyone help me fix this issue? Have you encountered this before? Thanks very much in advance Markus -- Markus Frank, München

Re: firewall on budget ?

Re: firewall on budget ? Unless I have missed it, what no one has yet mentioned is that a software Firewall (I actually use ZA Free behind a NAT router) is that it is mainly there to protect against outbound problems from malware and trojans. Looking at my logs, I see nothing inbound as the router has handled all of that. I have used outbound protection tests (obtained from trusted sites) to confirm that ZA is doing its job. It has blocked all the tests I have run so far. One problem with using the firewall is that sometimes I will get alerts in the log which turn out to be just the PC talking to itself, but believing it is networked. I am not at my…

Old style keyboards ? ? ?
by Guest geotews6@______.com- 7 replies

Does any company still sell keyboards that dont have the windows keys? I hate those extra keys. I never use them, and because the ctrl and alt keys are smaller I keep hitting those useless things. I had several old keyboards and have used them until now. This is my last one and it's dying with a dead down-arrow key. I'd much prefer to get a NEW keyboard since the old ones are usually pretty well worn. Does anyone know of a source that still sells them? (Not Ebay, please). By the way, what do Macintosh keyboards have in place of those things or dont they have them at all? I'd imagine a Mac keyboard wont plug into a PC. Thanks George
