Re: recent security update breaks print spooler?

Re: recent security update breaks print spooler? Thanks Sally. You don't know how much your advice assisted me. It was spot on. In fact, I even uninstalled SP4 rollup after fixing up the printing issue and reinstalled it to prove that by deleting HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\PostS PUpgrade) and then restarting the spooler, it alone solved the problem - and it did. Even though I spent countless hours trying to fix the problem before taking your advice, I was much relieved when your technique worked. thanks again -- jojo1 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ jojo1's Profile: http://forums.techarena.i…

Tracking files
by Guest Søren Olesen- 0 replies

Hi Is there a good way to track files on a Windows filesystem?? I know that one can look at the Journal or hook into the events generated, but unfortunately many applications created a temporary file and when data is saved the original file is deleted and the temporary file is renamed to the original name. Regards, Søren

I have a Server with 2003 Ent sp2. I have to rename the domain but need to raise it's functional level to 2003. When I try and raise level of the Forest, I get: "The functional level cannot be raised, the directory is busy" When I try to raise the domain, I get the same message. I have rebooted the system and tried this with no clients logged on.

All I want to do is set a group policy which allows members of an existing security group to log on via RDP without me having to make them members of the local "remote desktop users" group. The group policy "Allow log on through Terminal Services" " looks like it should do the job, but I have never managed to get it to work. can someone give me some pointers? regards roga

Hi All, I hope I am posting this to the right group. If not, which group should I post to? I have a Windows 2003 server with two 73gb drives, which are mirrored. I need more space, but because the server only has space for two hot-swap disk, I will need to replace these two disks. If i get two 300gb drives, what is the easiest way to upgrade the current disks. i would prefer not to have to reinstall the OS etc... Any suggestions? thanks Ian

HI, I have a 7GB partition for Drive C on XP Prof system. No matter what space i keep creating, just disappears and i get Low on disk space message. Where does the space go? Is there a way i could free them somewhere? My virtual memory is not on this drive. In the Windows, there are a whole lot of folders starting with $ at the top (seem to be windows update files) which occupies over a Gb of space. Can i delete these folders? Could someone help sort this space issue? Thanks Ramesh

Cleanup question

Yes I know that there's lots of people in this forum who say forget about Disk Cleanup, but I have a question. There's many references to using cleanup for deleting windows temp files, but the content of this folder displayed by cleanup is always zero. Why is this when there's about 5mb of junk in there?

Server 2003 - Best Software To Make Drive Image?
by Guest Nobody Important- 13 replies

I am supporting someone who just installed Sever 2003 and is running a custom program that took quite a number of hours at a high billing rate to 'tweak' so the user wants an image done of the server's boot drive. I looked at Norton Ghost and it does not support Server 2003. We want to make an image file that will store on DVD DL Can anyone recommend a program that you have made image files and restored them on Server 2003? TIA
