by Guest federico- 1 reply

Hello, I am trying to do an integrated installation of Windows 2003 Enterprice with SP2. I can install fine the operating system using CD1 with SP2 integrated into it. After a fresh install using this cd the computer starts with SP2 already intalled. The problem is that when I try to run CD2, with SP2, I got an error that reads: "Setup cannot continue because the operating system edition is different from the Setup edition." If I use the original CD2, without SP2, I get: "Setup cannot continue because this product disk is incompatible with the service pack installed on this computer. To complete the installation of Windows Server 2003 R2, you wi…

selective start up,
by Guest ANTHONY DIODATI- 4 replies

we changed to selective start up last week on a lap top, running XP, by taking some things out of the start up menu, under msconfig. Now she seems to be having some problems when she restarts, like a message , system configuration utility" pop up that says she is in Diagnostic or Selective start up mode, causing this message to be displayed and the utility to run every time Windows starts. I did not think that should come up, And I am pretty sure the computer was restarted after we took the items out of start up,But she seems to feel it may be due to making the start up changes. She also stated"my whole desktop is highlighted and I can't change it, until I fi…

checkdisk Problem?
by Guest Dave Candi- 5 replies

Hi I wonder if anyone can help? Everytime I start my computer it runs checkdisk, when it gets to 35% it hangs and stays there? I've run checkdisk from the command line and the same story. The only way round this is to skip disk checking on start up. I'm seriously worried about my hard disk as it seems its on its way out. This is the second western digital hard drive thats given me problems, the other was on my laptop. Can anyone recommend a solution to this problem? Maybe some freeware disk checking and fixing software? Should I buy a new drive incase this one goes completely? Thanks in advance Dave

Peach Tree 2007 Server components?
by Guest Leythos- 1 reply

I have a server and although it's new and running all the same apps as the old server (Swing Migration), the new server is running PeachTree 2007 Server components. The server will hang a couple times a week without any warning and no log entries - can't get past Applying settings and most times the screen just freezes. I disabled the PT 2007 Pervasive Database service and didn't have any problems for several days, but, within 4 hours of enabling it, it hung the server again. Anyone running Peach Tree 2007 on a Windows 2003 Standard R2 server with SP2 installed? -- Leythos - Igitur qui desiderat pacem, praeparet bellum. - Calling an illegal al…

I have a new machine that i need to partition/format and has no floppy drive - Windows XP setup halts with a disc error asking me to run FDisk On my previous machine using floppy i could partition & format without windows at all (using MSDos commands) I've read Microsoft article on creating partitions but they discuss using floppy disc (which doesn't rely on windows) and using Windows which relies on windows already being installed They don't discuss how to create a partition (and format it) using windows xp cd e.g. if you don't already have Windows XP installed and don't have a floppy disk Any clues?

I know this is the wrong group for Word but I can't seem to find it. I have a customer who is wrighting a book who somehow managed to lose it while she was saving a new page. She can't remember what Word challenged her when she saved the new page but the Save As box came up. Now she has only one page out of hundreds saved. Doesn't Word automatically make backups? Where are they located?

My Documents Redirection
by Guest Homer Jay- 1 reply

I have XP Pro SP2 running fine, but the My Documents folder keeps trying to synch with a server that no longer exists. There are 3 profiles on the PC, and I have gone into each one and unchecked the box to synch with the now non existant server, but everytime someone logs in it tries to synch with the old server again. How can I get rid of this annoying pop up telling me I am working offline? If any more info is needed please let me know. Thanks.

Apearance of a Window?
by Guest Jethro- 5 replies

I have two machines. On one machine, if I double-click on, say, My Computer, I get two sub windows in the resulting window - ICONS on the right and what I will call a menu on the left (showing for example 'system tasks'). On the other machine there is only one sub window - namely the sub window containing the ICONS. No menu sub window on the left. Now for my dumb question - How do I control which I get? I can't find the setting to do the job. Obviously I set something on one machine different from what I set on the other machine. The question is what? I told you it was dumb! Anyone? Jethro
