rbf files in folder Config.Msi
by Guest Maestro Mysterieux- 1 reply

I have a folder C:/Config.Msi created on 26 February 2006. I don't know where it came from. It has 6 *.rbf files, all with names like 2fc60a21.rbf, and an 4c68fb.rbs file. Most of the sizes are just under 500 kb. They are not text files. Where did they (or the folder) come from? Are they important? Can I delete them?

My son used my computer a while back (XP PRO). He must have deleted the Windows XP default pictures (the pictures that come with XP) and I want them back, how do I do that. He must have cleared the recycle bin as well, because I checked there. Is there any way that I can get them back? -- Message posted via http://www.windowskb.com

I have a very old Apple computer that is presently used only with Claris FileMaker pro. These files date way back (1991) and are now too big so I would like to convert them to my PC and bid adieu to the Mac. Does anyone know of a forum, newsgroup or can you help me in this endeavor? I realize that this is a topic for Mac and or FileMaker but so far my search has not found a source for this question. Thank you.

System Locks During Internet Access
by Guest Tony- 3 replies

I have an older machine that runs WIndows 98SE, when accessing the Internet the system will lock up so bad the monitor loses signal from the video card. It is if the motherboard itself losses power to the PCI cards. when this happens the link light goes out on the ethernet card. So for I have reformatted and reistalled, that did not help, So I went out and downloaded all the latest drivers for the hardware (motherboard, video, network card, modem) then I reformatted and reinstalled again,, still no help. I then though I would try a different network cark, same issue. You can run the machine all day long and do word processing, play games, and it never lock…

Stop errors

Hi. I'm running Windows XP SP2 on a Dell laptop with 504 MB RAM and a 1.5 GHz processor. For the past, oh, week or two, I've been getting Stop errors. I'd had a similar problem a while ago that went away, so I haven't done anything about this for a little while, but it's starting to piss me off a lot. I haven't written down any of the codes at the bottom (I will when it happens again), but the message at the top is usually "BAD_POOL_HEADER", "BAD_POOL_CALLER" or "PAGED_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA". I downloaded a Windows Update today that mentioned Stop errors (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936357/en- us), but it seems to have done nothing for my computer. Can anyon…

Two Copies of mrt.exe?
by Guest Mike- 9 replies

A little while back, one of the Windows Updates contained a download for the Malicious Software Removal Tool (mrt.exe), so I downloaded it, along with the rest of that month's batch. Since I thought I had that already, I did a search and found it in two different places: 1.) Where it's supposed to be: C:\WINDOWS\system32 Size - 15,876 KB Date Created - 5/15/2005 Date Modified - 6/28/2007 2.) AND I ALSO found it in: C:\c6f23b84c9e (etc., etc. - a long string of (seemingly) random numbers and letters) Size - 14,620 KB Date Created - 5/9/2007 Date Modified - 4/27/2007 I looked everywhere on the net and from everything I could find, it'…

Whenever the computer attempts to go into sleep mode, the message "going to sleep appears" and then the computer immediately restarts. I've tried resetting the power options to no avail. Any way to remedy this problem?
