I am running a Citrix MetaFrame server on a Windows 2003 X64 Server. The root drive is almost out of space and I would like to move the Documents and Setting folders to the D: Drive which is where all my data is stored. Is this possible? Can someone give me guidance? Thanks.

TS NLB name problem
by Guest Jeff- 4 replies

I have a NLB cluster name like tsfarm.domain.com with ip of 192.168.1.5 (not real ip's hehe) that has 4 nodes that are tsfarmA, tsfarmB, etc. A user can login to each of the nodes without issue since the group the user is in resides in the Remote Desktop Users in the local group of each node. When the user tries to log into the tsfarm.domain.com virtual it says that the user has to be granted remote terminal access and shuts down. As a domain admin I can connect to the virtual without issue. Why can't the user authenticate to the farm name when the same user can authenticate without incident on each of the nodes in the farm?? Is there permissions …

Problems after installing "User Profile Hive Cleanup Services"
by Guest Holger- 0 replies

Hello, after installing the "User Profile Hive Cleanup Services" my Visual Studio 6.0 (SP6) (and windbg, also) displays a lot of messages at the end of a debug session. The messages are of the kind: WINREG: Tracked key data for object 0x... WINREG: Name: \REGISTRY\USER\S-1-5-21-... Frames 12WINREG: Frame 0 = 0x... WINREG: Frame 1 = 0x... WINREG: Frame 2 = 0x... WINREG: Frame 3 = 0x... .... There were no such messages before the installation of UPHClean. Unfortunately the messages remain after an uninstall of UPHClean and even after a reinstall of Visual Studio. Can someone give me a hint what's the reason for these messages and how I can get rid o…

I have WindowsXP pro. I have upgraded to Norton Ghost 12.0 from the old Ghost 2003. However the backup (image?) files in Ghost 12.0 are about three times the size of the ones in Ghost2003. Can anyone explain why this is so; perhaps I have the wrong settings in Ghost 12.0? Please help.

W2K3 Problem: DMA reverts to PIO -- help
by Guest Steeve- 1 reply
Using Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2, I am still having a problem with an IDE controller only operating in PIO mode instead of DMA (which slows my system to a crawl). This problem was described in KB81742 and KB919168, and was supposed to be resolved by SP2. It is also described here: http://winhlp.com/?q=node/10 None of the proposed solutions seems to work for me. If I delete the MasterIdDataChecksum key (see http://winhlp.com/?q=node/10), it works temporarily, but then reverts to PIO. Can anyone tell me what to do to solve this? Thanks! Steve

I've added another 2GB to my system (K8Upgrade-VM800 Motherboard) but only 2GB is recognised. The new 2GB is recognised when I look at my BIOS, but XP is stuck on RAM of 2048MB. I've tried MAXMEM in Boot.ini, but that won't go any higher than 2048. What am I doing wrong?

And now the Administrator login and my login can not get some of the subdirectories that I changed the permissions to. When i went to change the permissions for this one directory for the group everyone i got a message saying "Caution! Deny entries take prioity over Allow Entries, which can cause unintented effects due to group memberships. Do you want to continue?" i said yes because i was doing the group eveyone and figured the Administrator was not included. however i am wrong. now when i go to the directory i get this message directory "is not accessible. Access is denied". however, the users can get into the directories that i can not get in…

Server 2000 and Deleting Clients
by Guest Todd P.- 0 replies

I cannot add a new computer to our domain as I get the message the domain has exceeded the max # of computers. Now, several older computers listed no longer exist. However, I'm unsure if we have totally eliminated them. Is there any program I can run to get the last time these computers logged in. If I delete an active computer by mistake, it causes lots of problems. I hope windows 2003 does a better job of managing it's computers. -- Thanks, Todd

"Disappearing" folder
by Guest Rob- 3 replies

A certain folder stopped apearing in My Computer/ Windows Explorer etc. It can be found if its address is typed directly into the Run dialog. It is also visible to some software (e.g. Treesize) but not to most. Investigation has revealed that the Hidden attribute is set, but the checkbox is greyed out so it cannot be removed. It cannot be removed with a Command window instruction usiing attrib either. (Error message = "Not resetting file q:\ update". Windows is configured to show hidden files, but the folder is still not displayed. I copied the files and subfolders into another, new, folder, and shortly afterwards the new folder "disappeared". (same symp…

RIS OemPreinstall Problems
by Guest michael- 2 replies

I am trying to building a RIS image that is full automated but I am having one screen that will appear for user interaction. The screen is after the formatting and coping files and the GUI part of the install starts. The screen says, "Welcome to the Windows XP Setup Wizard" I have found that this only happens when I have the OemPreinstall=Yes, set in the Unatteneded section of the restndrd.sif file. If I turn this setting to =Off then the prompt does not happen but I do not get my oem drivers to install. Please let me know what I need to do to remove this prompt from my install. Here is a copy of my ristndrd.sif: [Data] AutoPartition=1 M…

I think I remember there was a program that you could set what version of the OS was reported when a specific program requested the OS version. Was this a dream or is it real?? I can't find it. Mark
