Problem with WS2_32.dll
by Guest Greg Nash- 9 replies

After scheduling a backup task to run every night using my backup program "Acronis", the next morning I always get a windows error message: "This application has failed to start because WS2_32.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem." I've reinstalled the application, but this doesn't help. Acronis technical support says "Since WS2_32.dll is a system file we may recommend you to restore your system to avoid this error message", which doesn't help either. I posted a question on the Wilders Security Forum, which is the official Acronis (and others) support forum. The file WS2_32.dll is in my system32 folder in the windows f…

Hello, I habe local Administrator Rights on this Windows Server 2003, Terminal Server. There is a local drive F: which contains quite a few subfolders and files, also a folder called temp. When I navigate to this folder (f:\temp) then the right pane is completely empty. However when I specify a subfolder of f:\temp directly (f:\temp\ksd) I can see its files. This is also true at the commandline: F:\Temp>dir Volume in drive F is SMUC0001_F_W2003 Volume Serial Number is D06E-605A Directory of F:\Temp 20.07.2007 11:27 <DIR> . Blue Screen of Death - Desperate for HELP!!!

Tonight I got the BSOD after my antivirus software (AVG Free) detected a virus in a file downloaded. Now I can't reboot my notebook without getting the BSOD. This happens when attempting to reboot even to safe mode or the dos prompt. Also tried last working configuration option. I'm wondering what my options are here? Will booting to the WinXP CD allow me to run AVG on the hard drive files or somehow provide any other course of action to recover the important system files? Is it time to purchase a 2.5 inch HDD enclosure and transfer my important files to another PC before doing a fresh install? Many thanks.

I have two hards drives (1) 10 GB and (2) 220 GB partitioned (110 GB each). I had XP installed on hard drive (2) partition one. I recently installed vista on drive (2) partition two and all worked fine (dual boot). I now want to reinstall xp on the same drive and same partition because I have to format it to eliminate some nasty viruses. I changed BIOS to boot from CD but somehow when I try to reinstall only drive (1) appears as an option. Any solutions pls?
