We have "some" machines that fail to register with the dynamic DNS. The machines are all part of the Active Directory, and I can see the machines in the Computer OU. However nslookup on the machine name fails. This only happens with a handful of machines. The rest of them register with the DNS fine. All the machine are identical. We use BIND for dynamic DNS. I have already tried uninstalling / reinstalling the network driver, repairing the TCP/IP stack, and re-installing the Printer and File Sharing client. Are there any issues between Windows Vista and Terminal Server on Windows 2003? We have 2 computers that were originally assigned Device CALs. They were originally Windows 2000 and Windows XP computers. They were lease replaced by new Windows Vista computers and now when they login remotely thru Terminal Services they get disconnected from their session every 5-10 minutes.

Hello all in the MS world. I have a client that swears that at one point he was able to drag and drop files from his desktop PC (host machine) to his win 2k3 server's desktop while using RDP. The thing is i think he is right, i could have sworn that i've done that at some point. Alas, now i have no luck I know that it is possible to access drives from the my computer console of the server, yet this would involve to many steps I've been through all the settings in the Terminal server settings on the host machine, and i've taken a look at the registry keys that are in the "Current Control Set->Terminal Server" tree. I have an ongoing problem connecting from a Windows XP client to a terminal server in administration mode on a Windows 2000 server where the clipboard works after I connect the RDP client, but after a few minutes the clipboard stops working. I try to copy something from the Windows XP client and it no longer is transferred to the Windows 2000 TS Host's clipboard. I can simply disconnect, reconnect, and the clipboard works again. Three to 10 minutes later, it breaks again. The pattern is infinitely repeatable. Is there some setting on either client or host that would keep the clipboard intact? I delete a user qsmith from AD but when the server boots up in the event viewer I get the message below for all those users I delete. How do you go about deleting this or using net share? System: DELL Dimension 8300, P4 3.2 MHz, with PX Pro (SP2) 1 GB RAM and 250GB HD. I have been copying files to and from a 1GB USB stick for some time, when it suddenly locked. Now I am unable to delete the files on it, or reformat the drive (E:). XP boot in Safe Mode won't help, nor will anything executed from the command line. I have tried every variation of 'FORMAT' (including some undocumented parameters from the DOS-era - getting desperate here...), ran 'CHKDSK /F", 'SCANDISK' and some external tools, like Norton Utilities (32-bit). Hi Folks, We recently added a 2nd site linked via dedicated T-1 (point to point). While the first site has two DC/DNS servers, we'd like to add one more to the new site, and have AD & DNS replicated over. What's the best process to do so? Should I just add the new server to the domain first? Then promote it to a DC? Thanks

Tried repair install of my XP Professional Edition with Service Pack 2 and got as far as the reboot to continue the install when system message The File ASMS on XP Pack 2 CD is needed. Can anybody suggest how I can solve this and find the file on the XP Disc or some work around as I cannot start my system up now. Cheers Rod Gayford

I have purchased 100 Terminal Server Per User CAL Tokens. My two Winsows 2003 Terminal Servers are set to Per User licensing mode. However the CALS are currently being issued as Tempory Licenses for Windows Server 2003 - Terminal Server Per Device CAL Token. They are all set to expire beginning next week. My licensing server is a DC running Windows 2003 Standard w/ SP2. What do I need to do to correct this issue?

Event ID 202 Discussion: While checking Application Log on one of my W2003 servers, I came across this error - License Service Event ID: 202. I read the MS support pages, etc. Basically I found that under AdminTool/Licensing/Clients, there are many "clients" that ARE NOT current employees. Under PROPERTIES it shows the last log-on date. Some are over 5.5 years old. THE QUESTIONS: Should I delete these people or just revoke the license? and what is the difference between revoking and deleting? I know this is not the place to post my question but I can't help it as I did not get any reply from CA when I send them the email (twice) about a week ago. Their coporate section can't help either. Is there anyone out there who have use CA anti virus scan and after the scanning, where can we click to delete the infections? There is no button to click to delete it. When I rescan, the sames infections will be detected, so obviously it does not automativally clean or delete it.
