Hi all. My windows 2000 file server has serveral warnings "The server was unable to find a free connection n times in the last 60 seconds". I have tried setting my minfreeconnections and maxfreeconnections to 256 and 4096 respectively but still face the same problem. Base on this website http://support.microsoft.com/kb/830901 i can set my minfreeconnections and maxfreeconnections to 512 and 16384 respectively, however my srvsvc.dll file is an earlier version than the 5.0.2195.6930 required. Hence how can i update the version of srvsvc.dll file in my win2k server? Can i copy from win2003 server and overwrite it? Thks in advance.

Console Logon Issues with WSS 2003 R2
by Guest Brian Spolarich- 2 replies

I have an HP Ai0600 server (ML370 really) running WSS 2003 R2, up to date. I've had a problem since I got this box that occurs somewhat randomly that HP hasn't been able to fix. I manage the box remotely via RDP console session (as I do for all of my sessions). After a while I will be unable to logon remotely -- the RDP client connects and drops. Sometimes I'm able to fix this by logging on at the physical console and logging off the session there. Sometimes I can connect via VNC as well to do this. Sometimes however (like today) when I attempt to logon at the physical console I see this error: Logon Connect Failed - "Error connecting to existing session…

Large system cache settings
by Guest Kpark- 1 reply

I have been looking to optimize settings on some of our Windows servers. These servers all have 4GB of RAM installed (about 3.3GB available because we are not using /PAE). Since we seem to have plenty of RAM, I want to maximize the virtual address space available to be used by the cache manager. I marked the option to adjust memory for best performance of the system cache, rebooted, and verified the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\LargeSystemCache is now set to 1. When I try to verify the cache virtual size in Windbg, it seems to still be set to 512MB rather than the 960MB maximum siz…

backup log
by Guest Mou- 3 replies

I have created a script to run a backup of some of my important users every night. I am using the standard Windows XP backup utility. All the process works perfect, but now I want to rename the log file and place it in a server as part of the script. I haven't found a way to tell the NTBackup command where to store the .log file and what name to use. For now I have found the log with a standard name under the C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows NT\NTBackup\data\ Is there a way to tell the location and name of the log file to the NTBackup command?. Thanks a lot for your help.

Question about new GPO policy
by Guest Avari- 1 reply

As Per Document: How to lock down a Windows Server 2003 or Windows 2000 Terminal Server session - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/278295 I have created a new OU and placed all TS/Citrix servers in this OU. I have Block Inheritance in this OU. Following instructions on the above document I have created and linked the GPO to the OU where the users reside, I have implemented a loopback policy to lockdown user sessions on Terminal Server/Citrix. Using a test user the GPO works great as I wanted on the TS/Citrix server, however I've just logged onto Windows XP PC and the GPO/policy is being applied to desktops I only want the GPO/policy applied to Termina…
