W-98SE Fat32ebd

In one of the old posts Ron Badour wrote "you can make a W98 Restore disk with the Fat32ebd.exe file located on the W-98CD: tools/mtsutil/fat32ebd". I am always a little leery of clicking on EXE files unless I know what to expect. Does clicking on the Fat32ebd.exe file transfer the startup files to the blank floppy in A:/? I'm having a tough time getting my computer to recognize the fact that there is a CD drive installed in the computer. I've formatted the HD, ran Fdisk and transferred the system files. Tried swapping out the CD drive, flat data cables, checked all connections. The boot disk that I have tries to install CD drivers but a message comes up…

scroll button active only for window mouse is over
by Guest Eric Anderson- 0 replies

I would like to make the scroll button active ONLY for the window the mouse is over. .. I hate it when you are in Windows explorer and try to scroll down a list of folders in the left column and the right window scrolls through files, You have to click on a folder and it opens that folder (which is NOT what you intended). or If you are filling out a form and you just entered the number of passingers for Northwest, go to another area on the form and accidently hit the scroll button changing the number of passingers from 2 to 4!!!!! How do you make the scroll button work ONLY for the window you are mousing over? I have Windows XP and looked at the mou…

I have a system running fully patched XP that I need to reformat and reinstall XP. However, when I hold down F8 on startup to try to start in command mode I get the screen showing the various options but I cannot move the cursor from the default option by using the keyboard arrows. I tried swapping keyboards but same results. It appears that the keyboard is frozen. Anyone know of another means of accomplishing this? Marv

Include printer drivers for Vista into a Windows 2003 Printserver
by Guest Johannes Heckenstaller- 0 replies

Hello, how can I include print drivers written for Vista into a Windows 2003 Printserver in order to publish/distribute the printer in the AD ? The Windows 2003 server has at printer properties (Tab "Sharing") the Button "Additional Drivers" only the option to include/install drivers for Windows 200x, XP, NT4, 9x and the Itanium-platform plus Intel x64 -but no entry/option for Vista. What can I do in order to include them? I can imagine, that I´m not the only one with this problem - there must be thousands of companies around the world with this problem. Is Microsoft not able to update/patch the Windows 2003 Server (printservice) in order to serv…

Native Backup utility
by Guest Curtis Vaughan- 3 replies

I have a client that has 4 XP machines. They all do a daily backup to a share on one of the machines using the built-in backup program. What I find strange is that although the backups seem to be working fine, the file size for each computer each day is exactly. I'm not looking at the files right now, so I can't say the exact size, but let's say they are something like 1.4 Gb each. More precisely let's say Explorer is reporting each file as: 1428 Mb each. (Again, I don't remmember the exact size being shown). Would this be correct? Does XP's backup utility merely use a specific size regardless of how much is being backed up? Thanks for any input.

Clock is 1 hour early in the morning and correct in the afternoon!

Hi, I'm on an office network. My machine is running XP Pro. This problem does not affect any other machine on the network (all are running one or other XP). When I get to work and switch on my machine the clock is exactly one hour early (i.e. it says 8am when it's 9am). By around lunchtime (I'm not sure exactly when) the clock displays the correct time. Daylight saving autoadjust is unchecked. I've never heard of anything like this and nor have the guys from our IT company! Any ideas? Paul

Hi, I have a print.C which on compilation results in print.exe. This exe invokes the Windows Printer Dialog Box when PrintDlg function is being called. Before calling PrintDlg function, pd.hDevMode and pd.hDevNames are set to NULL. pd.hDevMode = NULL; pd.hDevNames = NULL; Other members of PRINTDLG pd structure variable are set as follows pd.lStructSize = sizeof(PRINTDLG); pd.hwndOwner = hWnd; pd.Flags = PD_RETURNDC | PD_RETURNDEFAULT; I have set the PD_RETURNDEFAULT flag as I dont want to see the Printer Dialog Box Window. After setting these values, PrintDlg function is called as if(!PrintDlg(&pd)) { fprintf(stderr, "><Pr…

Hello, I am trying to write a test hardware provider. I changed the vshadow tool to call the hardware provider using its GUID. My snapshot completes fine and the xml file also gets generated for transportable snapshot. The setup is something like this. Exchange SG1 logs on F: and mailbox of G:. I give command "vshadow.exe -t=test.xml F: G:". When the snapshot is fired, I see following event logs at the end, indicating me that the backup was complete. ******************* Event Type: Information Event Source: MSExchangeIS Event Category: Exchange VSS Writer Event ID: 9612 Date: 7/16/2007 Time: 9:28:49 PM User: N/A Computer: BRCDIND-R3-105 Description:…
