Does anyone buy software anymore? XP, Vista and Office 2007 are all available for free online. They all have serial numbers and activation cracks, they are even go through Microsoft's own validation process. I'm sure many of you have pirated software but don't like to admit it. Lets take a poll. Reply back for: Yes, I have pirated software or No, I do not have pirated software.

How much room should I really allocate for restore points? System Restore wants 10% of my 100GB drive and that seems like way too much.

There are 4 USB ports on my computer. Often, one or more fails to work and the device that is plugged into it is not recognized. One reboot usually corrects the problem but not always. Does anyone have any idea of what might be the problem? I don't recall having this problem before I did a clean reinstall of Windows XP.

I noticed that I have a few Gb of data in Temp Int Files folder (winXPpro). I tried removing all the files but it just doesn't work. They all dissapeared from the folder after deleting but when I check the properties of the folder there is still a few Gb of something which I can't see although in Folder Options I marked the 'show hidden files' nad 'show system files' checkboxes. Also I tried deleting whatever is there from Internet Explorer but with no effect. Yaro

Can anyone recommend a good firewall that I can install on an old P3? I want to convert this old PC into a hardware firewall. Someone told me about IP Cop, but I am not quite sure. Any ideas?

The box is REALLY starting to crawl. The kids have left, and I'd like to format and start fresh. Debating between an external hard drive to copy everything to, format the installed drive, adding desired programs and data back; OR just buying another hard drive removing current one, install XP on it, then put old hd back in as a second pulling off desired programs and data then formatting it. This box is 5+ years old, P4 Northwood 2GHz with 512 RDRAM and an 80GB hd. Also pre USB2 so external drive transfer would be extremely slow. When doing Disk Cleanup on WinXPSP2, the option to Compress Old Files to Save Disk Space is available. What criterion or criteria is/are used by the OS to determine "Old" - is it based on Modified Date? Last Accessed Date? Thanks, -- JCB\1059

Is it possible to have e.g. different coloured folders and files for diff categories. Would make my life much easier? You can do it on a Mac, but not sure how on a PC. Thanks in advance Katherine

My av gives message "SL48E.TMP", do you want to run this program? I think i is in the sys32 folder. Is it a MS program and hence OK to run?

Hi Today i installed norton antivirus complete, as a result my kids cannot get on their sites and neither can the wife as my pc is shared and i feel that norton is to blame any advice would be much appreciated. My network connectoions are bridged for some reason. I have LAN, WAN and IEEE. Should I use them bridged together or not? Are there any advantages? Thanks in advance, Martin Murray

I am operating on Millennium windows. I downloaded bo2k latest version and have got it on the C:/ drive. When I left or right click on the mouse I cannot open the file's.I am opening on Internet Explorer. I just want to launch the bo2k files. Do you have to un Zip them. Thanks. :( :( :( :?:
