However, I don't seem to get to the server. What do I have to do on the server that I can access it and then also to get from the server to the clients. Thank you Somchai

Waking a computer for Scheduled Backup??
by Guest rik- 1 reply

I have set up a backup using the backup app included in the XP operating system. I have told it to "wake the computer" to complete the event, I have made sure "run event only if logged in" is NOT checked. Nevertheless, the computer never "wakes", from standby, hibernation, or full power off, in order to complete at the scheduled time. Any ideas?

Ghost 2003 Boot Disk Problem...
by Guest info@robertovalente.net- 1 reply

Hi everybody, I have used Norton Ghost 2003 for years with no problems on my machine (I have two Samsung SpinPoint HDs, taken from the box from my supplier, on removable trays and everynight I used to shut off the machine, insert the second HD (which is otherwise in a drawer) and the floppy and backup the first HD, using the -ID and -FSI switches, because I also have a Linux partition...) One day, my MB died and fortunately my supplier had the exact same one in the store (ASUS P4P8X), so to avoid having to format everything because of a different chipset... Everything works fine as far as the computer is concerned, except for the Ghost floppy... I have tr…

by Guest Albatross Singh- 0 replies

Gretings Recently the performance has severely degraded. Looking at the events, I found that I am getting every 20 minutes or so the following event: Event Type: Information Event Source: Ci Event Category: CI Service Event ID: 4109 Master merge was started on c:\inetpub\catalog.wci because more than 20000 documents have changed since the last master merge. When it finishes in 10-15 minutes, I get the following: Event Type: Information Event Source: Ci Event Category: CI Service Event ID: 4103 Master merge has completed on c:\system volume information\catalog.wci. Can anyone provide any insight? This is a 2000 server running IIS. Th…

Cursor Focus / Ghost Alt-Tabs
by Guest Zeddy65- 0 replies

Im running XP on a new (3 months) dual core Atholon, and I'm having a problem with my cursor switching focus mid-typing. Sometimes it goes to the text prompt in another window, sometimes the text just doesn't go anywhere. Occassionally, as I try to post chat, I will hit enter a couple times, and it ends up restarting my machine. I'm using a Logitech USB G-15 keyboard, in case that makes a difference. A problem, no doubt related, is the sudden alt-tabbing to desktop while Im playing a full screen game. Has anyone any clue what might be the problem? I thank you in advance for any responses. Zed

Unsolveable permissions problem
by Guest Tom wilson- 0 replies

Hi! I have a Windows enterprise with multiple workstations and servers. We write our own internal applications in VB.Net. One of these machines will not run these programs when logged in as a user. If I log in as the domain Administrator, all 3 apps work just fine like they do on every other workstation. On this one, any attempt to run them returns the error "The application has caused an exception and will now close" immediately upon launch. There are no other details other than the error report it wants to send that means nothing. I have: - Reinstalled .Net Framework 1.1 (not used by these apps) - Reinstalled .Net Framework 2.0 (they use this) - …

Print delay using a AD color printer
by Guest cyberdude- 0 replies

For some reason which I have yet been unable to figure, a few of my users who were upgraded from NT profiles to 2003 profiles have a delay of approx 24hrs when printing to our color printer (shared out using AD). While newly installed profiles - not upgraded - have no delay. Any idea what is going on here?? Thanks, Tom -- Tom Zucker-Scharff Systems Administrator

Correct drive letter after an image restore?
by Guest Sven Berg- 1 reply

After I restored an partition image of NT onto a new PC, the restored system assignes a different drive letter to itself than originally. As a consequence, its boot process does not even procede to the desktop display. Unfortunately, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/223188 applies only to w2k or later. Now, what can i do to get NT back to the original letter? Possible registry changes by regdt32 would not be a problem. Thanks, Sven

Restore point
by Guest digimom- 6 replies

How can I create my auto restore points EVERY day? I leave my computer on almost all the time. I created one last night as my computer was working just perfectly but noticed that there were no other RP's prior to this, it frightened me. I would like it to create at least one restore point every 18 hours if possible. Prior to this there were always many days that did not contain RP's. It always creates one if I run Registry Mechanic.

Windows and IE Suddenly Display Large Fonts.

I have Windows XP, Media Center Edition (Version 5.1 9Build 2600.xpsp_sp 2_gdr.070227-2254: service pack 2) and Internet Explorer 7. Overnight, the display has changed. Fonts now look different, and much larger than before. This is true to some extent on the desktop and to a large extent on Internet Explorer. We haven't done anything to change our settings. This just seems to have come from nowhere. Here's what I've tried so far: Here's what I've checked so far: * On Internet Explorer, when I go to the "Tools" menu, then to "Internet Options" and then "Accessibility", all the boxes are unchecked (as they should be). * O…

hi, my server which is running AD, DNS, DHCP and RAS (for VPN) has 2 (A) records. *.*.*.78 (LAN) *.*.*.83 (internal) when pc's on the LAN side resolve this, they are being directed to the internal address, rather than the proper LAN address. can i set priority, as in MX type etc, or is there another way i can make the LAN IP the proper record? thanks neil
