Automatic log-in?
by Guest Janetb- 6 replies
How can I set my system so I don't have to log-in everytime I boot up? I'd like to to skip not only the welcome Screen but also the Log on to Windows dialogue box---that is, to have automatic log-in. I had it that way with my old 2KPro before I upgraded to XP recently. I'd like to be able to turn on the computer, go away, and have it ready to use when I come back..... I'm the only one who ever uses the computer. Thanks. Janet

I have a incredibly annoyong erro on two XP machiones Ive never seen before. When I type something into the adress bar of an explorer window to go to a new location, half way through while I am typing the address bar reverts to show the address of the current showing directory. For example, lets say I have an explorer window open in the directory c:\program files: I click the address bar (which now empties and is ready for input) and I want to type in (for example) \\f00-address\c$. What happens then is that after I type "\\f00-a" (approximately) the address bar will revert back to show "c:\program files" with selected text. Since I am still writin…

When I swithched from 2KPro to XP, the video card driver automatically installed by XP does not support D3D which I need for my 3d program. I have a downloaded .exe file for an xp-suited driver which does support D3d. How do I switch them? Can I run the .exe for installing the new driver while the other one is installed? Is there a video card dialogue box where I can chose from installed drivers? Thanks, Janet -- Thanks for the help!

That's it.. just looking to see if anyone knows how to tell when a particular computer was joined to a domain. I have a computer that was joined to a domain probably close to 9 months ago, but now I need to verify exactly when. Oh, I need to do this on the server - I don't have access to the computer that joined the domain to verify this info. Thanks in advance!

Email this file - choose profile?
by Guest Judy- 4 replies
"Hi. I used to resize my photos through HP Photosmart Essential but recently started having problems with it not recognising Outlook Express. Working on this with HP however this made me look at alternatives and I found the function in XP to resize photos. However it wants me to "choose profile" and I don't understand what this is or what to do. I prefer to use Outlook Express but will consider other alternatives. It could be that the HP and the XP problems are related. I have checked my profiles (as much as I know how) and they are set to Outlook Express. Help please.

WEBCAM USB BIOS PROBLEM
by Guest Anton Jansen- 8 replies
Whenever the PC goes on standby or shuts down, then powers up again, the system does not recognise the webcam. I have an Intel board and chipset. I have contacted the manufacturer of the cam on two occassions and they claim that the only way to solve the problem is to change the IRQs. I have 6 USB ports on board and everything works except the cam. Someone else suggested to upgrade the BIOS. I have had the run around on the Intel site, indentified my motherboard and chipset but there is no way I can sort this out. Can anyone please assist with a positive solution to this problem.
