"no operating system found" when 2nd hard drive connected
by Guest jbclem- 2 replies
I just added a 2nd hard drive to my Win2000 computer. It's the only device on the secondary IDE cable, set as "master". It's recognized in the bios setup but I can't access it in Dos (using Xtree Gold) and when I boot up the computer it's listed on the screen below the primary computer and the CD-Rom drive. But the boot doesn't go much further, just to a black screen with words that say somethuing like "no operating system found". I've found that if I turn off this 2nd hard drive (it's installed in an external sleeve with an off-on key) the computer will boot up normally. If I turn on the 2nd hard drive and reboot I get the "no operating system found" message. …

stand by not an option in shut down menu
by Guest cybermaksim- 2 replies
Hello. I recently rebuilt my PC with a new motherboard (ASUS CROSSHAIR). Since reinstalling XP and the drivers that came with the board, I no longer see "stand by" as an option in the shut down menu. I can only shut down, restart, and log off. I have made sure that all my XP updates are installed, all BIOS and motherboard drivers are current, and my video card driver is current (I have a BFG nVidia GeForce 7950GT 25MB installed). I don't know what else to do. Maybe this is a setting that needs to be changed in the BIOS or user options. Does anyone have any idea how to get "stand by" back in the shut down menu? Please let me know if you do. Thanks, …

by Guest engwar- 1 reply

I have a home network with two machines, one an XP Pro box and the other a Windows 2000 machine. After working flawlessly for a long time the machines no longer can 'see' each other. I am able to ping each machine from the other. Internet connectivity works for both boxes My Tivo box can see shares on the XP Pro box My XP Pro box can see the shares on itself but not shares on the 2000 box. The 2000 box can not see shared folders on either itself or the XP Pro box. If I'm on the 2000 box and I go under My Network Places-->Entire Network-->Microsoft Windows Network I can see the name of the workgroup but no shares appear under that. File and Pri…

Multiple pages of print, print on one piece of paper...HELP!
by Guest Kelvin Beaton- 11 replies

My situation is, if I print a document that's more then one page, all the print goes on one piece of paper. Like as if the printer isn't getting the page breaks. I first notices this one my HP LJ 1300 that is connected locally by USB. I found that is also happens on an HP LJ 4200n printer that I connect to via its IP address. We just bought an HP LJ 5550dnt that I found I can print just fine to. Multiple pages print on multiple pages. I talked to CDW where I bought these printers and they couldn't figure out any reason for the behavior. I've shared the printer and printed from another PC and it acts the same. (It prints over its self…
