High Speed Connection In Hotel Suite
by Guest Luv My Teddy Bearz- 3 replies

I am temporarily residing in a hotel suite fully equipped with high speed access thru the use of my ethernet adapter. My operating system is WinXP. Unfortunately when trying to connect Internet Explorer, there is a DNS ERROR message and something to the effect that a connection could not be found. I am an intermediate computer novice and have done everthing possible to correct the problem. I even contacted the hotel service agent but they seem to believe the problem is caused by my AOL. They checked the cables, outlets, plugins, etc...and simply said.....get rid of the AOL software. Well....I completely deleted the program but stil faced with connect…

by Guest Mars- 3 replies

For some reason I am unable to install a Java application in Windows XP pro. http://www.soi.city.ac.uk/~jwo/landserf/ is the application I wish to run. Every time I try to install this application, windows tells me it is unable to recognize this file and and can't even figure out what a .jar file installer is. I am sure I have installed java applications before in windows, infact I have this very application installed on a different Windows XP Pro computer. I have tried several different downloads, and the downloaded file is not corrupt. What else do I need to install in Windows so I can install java applications? I have all the latest XP update…

BIOS is at its latest version. Laptop is running on AC. APM is disabled in BIOS - but changing this setting doesn't change anything. Why is it running at only 727 Mhz ? by Guest icccapital- 1 reply

I have a more detailed question below but maybe if someone can answer this part I can solve my problem. What is the difference between the group policies when I right click and properties in the AD and then edit it and when I type gpedit.msc in run? gpedit.msc has policies locked to administrator and the other doesn't. Thanks. We are running windows server 2003 with terminal server enabled We have purchased software and are trying to get it running on our terminal server for remote use. It runs fine under the administrator login but we are having trouble with other user logins. The software has some settings that they say need to be set, one of which is…

Card Reader says All Write Protected
by Guest LMO- 0 replies

Aloha all. I have a Card Reader in my computer. It reads 9 different types of memory cards. I use SD, 1GB cards. When I put them in they are read fine, but whenever I try to write to the card I am told the card is write protected. It is not. I have the tab in the correct position...have tried in both ways. Nothing I can do to get the system to see the card as unprotected. What can I do? Thanks!

How do u get Autocomplete in IE 7 to work
by Guest Paul- 3 replies

Hi all, since there's no IE 7 NG, I'll post here. As above, how do you get Autocomplete to work! All the options are ticked under Autocomplete option, but the stupid thing doesnt ask if I want to save any passwords. It never has. I've checked Google/Yahoo, but I cant see anything on how to fix it for IE 7. I did find something about going here. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\IntelliForms\Storage2 But that doesnt help, since the Storage2 key isnt on here. Or was IE 7 made, not to save passwords, or something?? Because its doing a good job of it! Any info appreciated Thanx

move which of swap, temp, db log files, etc. to 2nd drive?
by Guest Les Caudle- 1 reply

I've got a RAID system with 2 mirrored volumes (of 2 drives each). I'm running Exchange 2003, SQL 2005, ASP.NET and ISA Server 2006 (with SQL 2000 MSDE). I'm curious what would be most useful to move the the 2nd drive? The swap file, TEMP folder, sql db log files, etc? Exchange will have under 10 users, and the ASP.NET webs shouldn't hit SQL Server too hard. Also, how to divide up the RAM memory? The SQL 2000 installed by ISA seems to like a lot of memory, and if it can't keep up, ISA will basically hang until it catches up. Any comments? -- Thanks in advance, Les Caudle

Default Gateway IP different from IP address of PC
by Guest Alice- 3 replies

My default gateway (on WinXP Pro SP2) is 10.10.12.1 and the IP address of my PC is 10.10.13.181. I think this is why I have trouble logging in to the network every morning. Is it the default gateway IP that needs to be changed? PC's computer name was changed about a month ago. Thanks. -- Alice.

TASKMGR just came up showing only the "CPU Usage" and "CPU Usange History" windows and nothing else. No tabs or list menu. Only way to shut it down = [alt]f4. How can I restore it to its original state? Many bonus point if you send a copy of your reply to ALEXANDEReBARNEs@Yahoo.com. T.i.A. Alexander
