copying files, ignoring all the ones that already exist

If I'm copying a large directory and have to stop midway through, restarting is kinda a pain. I can either overwrite everything or I can manually click 'No - do not overwrite' for each and every item. Maybe there's a command line option that'd make this easier?

POP 3 Authentication on 2003 SBS Server
by Guest Michael Collins- 4 replies

Have a remote user (at his home) for whom I am trying to setup POP 3email for his exchange email account from the office. Have everything setup correctly except whne it gets to the POP3 server authentication, the box asking for user name and password keeps popping up asking for password. I have reset and verified the password several times for the users account, still unable to authenticate. Used telnet to connect to POP3 Server successfully, this would indicate that port 110 is open on the router. Was able to enter user email address successfully, but when i entered the password in telnet connection I get unknown username or password error message. I…

Hi, after I added a second domain controller to my current active directory setup I notice that every time I reboot a machine it takes something like 20-45 minutes for it to get past the "applying computer settings step" I notice if i simply shut down the second domain controller it gets past this step immediately. Does anyone know what in the second domain controller is causing this issue? I have DNS installed on both domain controllers.. -Drew

Problems with SBS 2003 and Domain-Workgroup config
by Guest Teo- 9 replies

Hi guys, I have Windows Small Business 2003 Server installed on my Dell Poweredge. The server came preinstalled as a domain controller. Because I don't have that many XP professional licences, I had to run dcpromo on the server to downgrade it to a regular server without domain controller. Yesterday I was looking at the log files and I saw a SBCore error, that said that the machine was going to shut down in 60 minutes. After this I ran the configuration to bring it back to a domain controller. Everything went well and it took a long time. After the server restarted and prompted me with the login information. No domain was shown, just username and passwo…

Hi, I have three Win 2000 pro PC's that I'm replacing with three XP Pro machines and need some directions to online tutorials or advice from anyone here with experience in transferring files and settings from the (W2000) computer to the new XP Pro computer. Each of the W2000 machines are presently on a office network running Widows 2000 Server. I'm looking for a straight-forward, simple approach, if that's possible. Will an Imaging/Backup program, (such as Acronis) help me achieve the solution? I appreciate your time, Thanks, David.

Argh! Now I did it. System only boots in safe mode
by Guest miso@sushi.com- 4 replies

Working on this Photoshop problem, I decided to run "filemon" to see what files were being accessed. My systems is set up with most user file on E and the system on C. I noticed from filemon that the system was picking up some system files on E. Now it turns out this PC was dual booted with XP in addition to X64. When I did a system restore, I got confused between systems since the hard drive partitions got renamed. So I zipped up the "wrong" program_files directory, i.e. on the E drive, zipped them, then deleted the files. After this, the PC won't boot except in safe mode. I restored (unzipped) the files in safe mode, but that didn't fix the boot issue. That is,…

KB936357 Win XP security update "breaks" OE6
by Guest pdfero- 2 replies

Have installed KB936357 three times and each time it causes OE6 to work improperly: 1. Will not download messages or even search all my accounts when first started. Have close window, reopen before it downloads. Then, at some point later, it stops downloading until I restart OE6. (It goes through the motions for some of the accounts but doesn't find anything until restarted.) 2. The reaction to clicks slows. 3. Cannot move more than one message from the Hotmail account to the inbox without getting an error message that OE has been corrupted and run a program such as Scandisk. As soon as I back out KB936357, OE6 works fine again.

by Guest blinton25- 3 replies

Hello, I use Remote Desktop Web connection with a fixed IP to allow access to a Windows 2003 server. Requests which come to port 3389 are forwarded to the Windows Server 2003 machine. I can access the server either using Remote Desktop or via the web site. I switched my ISP and obtained a new fixed IP and new router (Linksys WRT54G). I set up forwarding once again. However, when I try to access the server via remote desktop web connection I received the following error: "VBScript: Remote Session Disconnected The client could not connect to the remote computer. Remote connections might not be enabled or the computer might be too busy to accepty new …
