On my laptop, using XP prof., my firewire is no longer recognized. So I go into the connection for the 1394, under support and hit REPAIR. It then gives me this error : Windows could not finish repairing the problem because the following action could not be complete : TCP/IP is not enabled for this connection. Cannot proceed. For assistance, contact the person that manages your network. There are checkmarks beside the TCP/IP, so I don't get it. If I UNCHECK the TCP/IP connection, it asks for a disk for the drivers or something. Any ideas? PS _ I have already disabled the connection and removed the IEEE94 Bus hot controller from the device manager…

Hi. When using the language bar, I can create special characters, like when I press the " ' " key and subsequently the " e " key, I get " é ". Now I've installed various European languages on my pc, like French, German and Spanish and I'm wondering where I can find a list of what key combinations will create what special characters. Does anyone know how to figure that out? Kind regards and thx in advance, Niek

Hi, I got a few questions regarding TS and how to configure the following; I've configured each of our remote users using the RDP 6 client - it launches our custom datebase application when then login. Anyways, I've configured the group policies to - Keep-Alive the connection -Enabled (no one likes to login in if they are inactive for a while) - Automatic reconnection -Enabled (reconnect if they loose connectivity) - Restrict Terminal server users to a single remote session - Enabled That all works well, the issues I'm facing are people are shutting down the session (using the x in the yellow bar) but the application is still running. When they at…

When you copy or click on the above links, note that there is a "_" at the end of each file name. Like this: /files/2007/5/26/1113604/fdisk.ex_ Maybe you're not seeing that or copying it correctly.

Using dual display
by Guest Old Geaser- 2 replies

I have a 2nd computer that is used for my personal weather station. It is on 24/7. I am considering installing the weather station on my main computer. I have experimented with the dual monitor just to see how it works. If I use the 2nd monitor on the main computer for the weather station, can I have the 2nd monitor set to never shut off (I want the weather display on 24/7)and have the main monitor shut down after a set period of time as it does now? Thanks in advance, Bert

.bat not defined; can't add it
by Guest Richard- 12 replies

I wrote a .bat script SayHello.bat amd got (essentially): "C: \SayHello.bat is not a valid Win32 application." The two line script was simply: @echo Hello @pause To my surprise, "Windows Explorer | Tools | Folder options | File types" reported consecutively: AWB, B64, BHX ... but no BAT. I attempted to add BAT by clicking New, providing the extension "BAT" (without the quotes), and clicking Advanced. In a moment, the Associated File Type :MS-DOS Batch File" was reported. I clicked OK. and Close. But I got the same symptom! I checked to see whether BAT had, in fact, been added to XP's registered types. It reported the same trio as shown above; no B…
