Internet Explorer 7.0 upgrade
by Guest Stig- 1 reply

Hi, I am currently running IE7 on a Windows 2003 terminal server environment. Previous to upgrading to IE7, if I clicked a link in a Outlook 2003 email, I would be taken to the webpage. Now, I receive an error message "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer". We have a Group Policy which restricts anything from running unless it is listed under "Run only allowed Windows applications" - iexplore.exe is in this list. I can confirm that I don't receive the error when I remove GPO restrictions from the user account. Does IE7 run different dll files to IE6 that I would need to register with the GPO? Thanks for…

Microsoft Updates:
by Guest Robert- 7 replies

After setting up my sisters computer with DSL, and all the antivirus programs etc. It occurred to me that perhaps she wasn't current with Microsoft updates. So I went to the site but each time it came back with the following message: The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are trying to view. At first I thought it was because she didn't have Active-X but she has it. I then found that she had Internet Explorer 6 and not 7 so I upgraded to that. Would that make a difference? Or is there something else I should look at next time I go over? Thank you, …

How to Obtain Windows XP setup boot disks
by Guest ybliku2- 4 replies

I am trying to download the file Windows XP setup boot disks and the instructions say there will be a prompt to insert a floppy and there isn't one. So, I went ahead and downloaded the file thinking that when it completed downloading, it would ask for it then. It still did not ask where I wanted it to go. I ended up going into A: drive and saving the file, in hopees that it would go ahead and download from there. But...it tells me the 1.4MB floppy isn't large enough. That I need to delete some files. I have no idea where the file ended up when it downloaded, does anyone have any idea where I can begin to look? Please help me with this issue as I ha…

Clients Local Printer Not Printing
by Guest Golforfood- 5 replies

I have a Windows 2003 Server R2 running and I have a client who uses Remote Desktop to login. The client can't print to their local printer. I am using Terminal Services. The just purchases a new printer which is an HP Laserjet 3055 All in One. I read a knowledgebase article on Microsoft's web site (Article ID 302361) that says Printers that use ports that do not begin with Com, Lpt, or USB are not redirected in a Remote Desktop or Terminal Services Session. I have made the registry changes on the clients computer and also changed the port from DOT$ to LPT. I still can't print. Is there anything else I can do? I have spent a week on this and the cl…
