excuse my ignorance but i am so confused by the licensing that i only want to get it right. A client has a Terminal Server with 5 user cal's, each person has MS office 2003 on their own computer. They want Office 2003 (same version) on the terminal server. What must be done to keep in line with the proper licensing for Microsoft.

bat file access denied on nt server
by Guest txodo- 0 replies

I have a batch file which is a simple xcopy of files from a workstation running xp pro to an nt server on our domain. Every time the batch file is run, the file copy fails with "access denied". If the user on the same workstation simply uses explorer and highlights and drags the files to the server, it works just file. I have given the user full rights to the folder she is copying to but I am assuming I am missing something in giving her rights to copy by using a batch file. Any way to solve this apparently simple problem. The user on the xp workstation is logged in as a user on our nt domain. I would like the batch file to work as I am not sure I would t…

migrate local user profiles to a new terminal server session
by Guest Jorge R- 5 replies
We are in the process of deploying a new terminal server, the challenge is to migrate the user profile from the local workstations to the terminal server user profiles, to minimize changes in the user community. There was no terminal server before, so the user profiles all are on the local machines running either Windows XP SP2 or Windows 2000 Pro SP4. The domain is a Windows 2003 Active directory. Any help on how to automate this will be greatly appreciated.

internet hangs
by Guest b_iceman- 2 replies

I have a windows xp computer on a wireless network. I have had this setup for a couple of years now. Last night I opened internet explorer and it would not load any pages. I went through unplugging the router and cable modem and plugging them back in. I still had no connection to the internet. I opened the router configuration page in internet explorer and confirmed that I had the correct settings from the cable company. I even released and renewed the ip addresses. Everything looks like it should be working fine, but internet explorer 7 and firefox 2 will not load any pages. I am currently on another computer with the same configuration which is …

Hi I have posted this problem about one week ago. The problem was fixed by no reason for a while, and now it comes back again. Problem description My PC is locked up at pre-POST stage. The keyboard light is flashed once. I have replaced the battery. 99% of the time, no monitor signal received. 1% of the time, the monitor receives signal and it shows that the boot sequence halts at "Initialize Plug and Play devices" So, how should I narrow down the troubleshooting? Thanks

Just started to get a message on boot up that OPXPApp.exe could not run and wants to send an error report to Microsoft. Once the computer is fully loaded, it takes 3 or more minutes to sign on to the Internet even though I have high speed cable. Anyone know what this is all about?

DVD burning conflict
by Guest Sue- 0 replies

Hi, I used my DAV drive to backup my system. Recently I installed a movie creation program which includes the gear security utility. Immediately thereafter, I was no longer able to use my backup program, nor any other as Drive E is now "inaccessible". I have tried uninstalling the program AND gear security however even after uninstalling and reinstalling my DVD drive, I can't use it for backing up. It seems obvious that gear security modified some setting in Windows, but I have no idea which one, so can't reset it. How do I fix it? Restore was inadvertently turned off, so that isn't an option. Thanks! Sue

I need to know how to disable the "map network" selection in WINDOWS XP and be able to map drives as administrator only for regular users. Now you must be logged in as the user to map the drive. This allows the user to access any network drive at any time. Thanks for any help.

Both my drives aren't recognizing the CDs I put into them. When I go into Device Manager though there are no open devices, all +'s. Do I need to use the drivers that came with the devices to get these drives working properly? I'm using Windows 98 SE. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, attilathehun1 -- attilathehun1
