I am using Windows 2003 server. I have created logon script in Group Policy and applied to OU. During boot up it will auto-map drives. It works fine all along. Recently, randomly, some users complained that they did not have the mapped drives in their "My Computer". When reboot the workstation, the mapped drives appeared. Anyone can advise what is the problem?

Configuring Automatic Shutdown when power supply is off?
by Guest Okramo- 2 replies

hello, I just bought smart ups and connected server to it via RS232. Also my ups has IP address assigned to it and that part is also working OK (I can ping ups). I'am wondering, how to configure Windows Server to close programs and shut down when battery of ups is getting low and I am not around. OS must figure that he's on UPS and needs to start shut down script. I've tried to configure something with Power options properties but no luck with that. Don't understand what I have to do. Can't find my ups in presented ones and when I chose Custom don't know what to do. I need some help :) thanks

I recently downloaded the latest XP security updates from Microsoft. The Microsoft.Net Framework Ver 2.0 (KB928365) security update keeps installing itself evertime I start my computer. I install it but it keeps coming back. This is beyond annoying! How can I get rid of it? Thanks. Kevin D.

Removing deleted files from a Windows Briefcase
by Guest Conan Kelly- 1 reply

Hello all, I like to use the Windows Briefcase to keep my traveling files up to date. The problem is that I absentmindedly added files to a briefcase from a CD-ROM, edited these files, and removed the CD (not that it could write to the CD anyways). I think I deleted the CD-ROM files from the breifcase after realizing my mistake (I'll have to verify this). Now everytime I go to up date the files, I get a message about the 2 CD-ROM files not being accessible. Is there any way I can delete the references to the CD-ROM files? I was looking for some sort of INI file or some other system file that would list all of the files with there sync copy paths …

I have a lot of users on a terminal service farm and these users are in 6 different physical locations. I want to install all of their printers as local printers of the terminal service server, but would like to only have the printers that pertain to a location to show up. Any good way of doing this?

Good afternoon. I'm not quite sure where to ask this question, so any direction provided would be greatly appreciated. We run a Server 2003 R2 environment that contains a SQL Server 2000 database. A VB front end using MS Access Runtine 2003 runs over the database. Users intermittently lose connection to the db (an ODBC Call Fail) and the "hungapp" shows up in the Event Log as the following: Error Report Contents: C:\DOCUME~1\user\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERff8a2.dir00\msaccess.exe.mdmp C:\DOCUME~1\user\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERf8a2.dir00\appcompat.txt The sever event event logs do not contain any errors or warnings that cannot be accounted for and the ODBC Call …

Question: We have a TS licensing server & TS server in our west coast forest and would like to add a TS to our east coast forest. Do we need a seperate licensing server in the east coast forest or should we be able to use our current west coast licensing server? Both forest are AD and there is a trust relationship. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Remove "orphaned" domains from Log On To box?
by Guest doug.masters@gmail.com- 9 replies

Last Friday, my company disconnected our WAN from our former owner. We both shared the same domain, we seized all FSMO roles to your DC's after being disconnected. That seemed to go well, the event logs on my DC's are pretty clean and no users are reporting any problems. The former owner had several other domains that would show up in the Log On To drop down box. We never logged into those, but since we're disconnected I would like to remove those and only offer the valid domains. My only thought on what to check was the Domains & Trusts, those domains do not exist there. Thanks in advance for pointing me in the direction I need to go.

I have this strange problem in a laptop running Windows Vista: when I try to connecto the DC running SBS2003, I get an error saying that I already have an active session running on the server and that I cannot open another. I started by rebooting the server and tried again to repeat the sequence, but the error message persists. Now, here's the strage part: I can connect to a member server running W2k3 Std by rdp client and, from there, to the DC running SBS2003... Any sugestions?

My tape drive just went dead, and I'm upgrading it to a new one, and I figured since I'm spending the money anyways, might as well upgrade the software. I have used CA's ArcServe 7.0 and am somewhat happy with it. Not worried about ease of use as I can figure that out, I just want to see which is the best one and if anyone has had experience with them Which one of the following is a better backup management software? Yosemite Backup Basic Suite Yosemite Backup SBS Yosemite Backup Enhanced Pro Suite Yosemite Backup Remote Server Pack for 1 Client Yosemite Backup Remote Server Pack for 5 Clients Yosemite Backup Enterprise CommVault Galaxy Express File S…

New Terminal Server Components
by Guest Mark R.- 3 replies

I am looking to purchase a new server dedicated to terminal services. It has an Intel 5300 family quad core processor and 8 GB of RAM. It will be in a Raid 1 or 5 setup with 15K RPM drives. The remote connection count will be between 40 and 50 users that will only run a business software app. There will be no email or internet surfing while in their sessions. The connection will be a remote site connected via a point to point circuit. There will be a need to redirect printers. The printers will be HP Jet directs. Will this be a problem for the remote users to redirect back to their local network printers that are attached to the LAN? Do you think 40 to 50 …
