Does anyone know of a utility that will copy a specified number of files from a source folder to a target folder. I have an application that can only handle processing 500 files at a time. I have 220,000 files that need processing. I would like to schedule the next 500 to be copied to the target when 500 complete. I have hunted around for all the regular applications (Robocopy, xcopy, xxcopy etc) but none have the ability to copy just any 500 files at a time. Is there a better way to throttle these files 500 at a time from the source to target??

When i open a website to download the animated emoticons, the images should be animating but it is not .. So wat should I do. .. I first I though it was the Zonealarm anti virus, but I unload the programe and restart my computer. The problem still remains.. ;(

Mighty Gurus, I have two win2003 servers. One hosts a web browser that gets PDF files from a reporting server. Previously the reporting server was W2k and the service which created the PDF ran under a user/pass that was identical to one on the W2k3 web server. After upgrading the reporting server to W2k3, I find that this 'trick' no longer works. (You use the same trick in connecting an SQL server to a web server on different machines, if they are both W2k or less.) This is either a security enhancement or a configuration setting. I have 8 Device CALs that were allocated to 8 computers. 6 of them have been replaced with new computers. How do I handle the TS licensing. The new 6 computers were automatically issued temp licenses but they keep getting knocked off and see a message saying there was a licensing problem. Some stay on for 30 min while others go for 45 min but all eventually lose their connection and get the message

I was given a computer with a pirated XP Pro on it and found out only after running the validation software. Needless to say, I want this pc above board and want to install Windows 98 SE and then XP Home Upgade. I also want to remove any traces of the old owner as you never know what they put on the hard drive(ie..kiddie porn). I need detailed advice on how to proceed. I would also like to keep some of the programs that were loaded on it if possible. I hope someone can help and guide me through this as I have found confusing information on how to proceed and in what order. Thanks in advance to all who can help.

Since I installed .NET, I am now required to click on my name as part of the booting process. My name is the only one there and I'm the only user on my system. How can I circumvent this requirement? I'm running XP Pro. Thanks much in advance. Mike

Hi all. First let me say that I am not a Windows Server expert rather I have admin privileges because the real admin is too busy and overworked. Recently, one of our boxes running Server 2003 asked to install SP2. I allowed it (figuring that it is more secure). Recently, I tried to map one of the shares, but got an error. So I logged in to the box and found that none of the shares were shared anymore. I guess it is possible that someone else logged into the box and unshared them, but I doubt it. I'm hoping someone has some ideas because I haven't run into this before. I have a Windows Server 2003 Enterprise SP2 server. When users or administrators try to logoff nothing happens. You can click on logoff and the confirmation prompt pops up but when you click OK you are returned to the desktop. I checked the Event Log and the following entry is entered.. EventID: 1073, Source: USER32 "The attempt by user XXX to restart/shutdown computer XXX failed." I have tried logging off from the command line with no success. The only way to logoff has been to open Task Manager, go to the Users tab, highlight the logged in user and click logoff. This seems to on…

I'm hoping to run VM Server on my home edtion computer but have just seen posts in this forum that suggests I can't put IIS on this machine, which is required by CM ware. Is there no way round this????

I hope this is a good place for this post. I have Intellipoint 4.12 installed on my computer and our IT department ran some updates on my computer (Win xp sp2) and now the Intellipoint software doesn't recognize my Intellimouse Optical. I've uninstalled and re-installed a couple of times and each time, during install, it allows me to pick the Intellimouse Optical but after reboot, the Intellimouse Optical is missing from the list so I can't use the outer left and right buttons. I also installed and uninstalled Intellipoint 6.1 but there's no support for scrolling in VB6. Can anyone tell me if there's some file I need to force a replace on or if there's …

Windows Server 2003 is experiencing slugish performance and at times bringing it to a halt. After a reboot the server appears to run fine. This has happened several times, and after reviewing the Event Logs, I found that there are hundreds of entries for Windows Agent trying to restart. How can I setup a terminal server connection to allow a user to only have 2 choices on the desktop. I want to have it so that there is just either shortcut 1 and shortcut 2 to run two applications. Any help would be great.

I have a small office with 5 computers all connected to a network hub. I want to be able to print with the "network Laser printer". I have tried all the suggestions turned off the firewalls, all the computers have File and printer sharing turned on. When I try to find the printer, no printers or other computers show up on the Microsoft network. What Next ? Thanks

Nothing has change in my usage of the pc. Out of the blue, my pc can detect my usb devices such as ext hdd, but when I try to open it by double click it, it say 'access denied'. Its the same for my thumbdrive. I have checked the bios (usb controllers enabled) and in device manager, it seems ok (usb devices are enabled) and there is no password protection on my usb devices. Any idea what is wrong with my pc? Thanks
