Transfer Wizard Error on restore

I had to re-install XP Home and used FAST prior to this to save everything to a flash drive. Re-installed the OS and then updated the computer to the same state as it was. i.e SP2 plus all updates. When I run FAST it starts running and the porgress bar starts moving. After some three or four minutes it stops with an error saying it is unable to continue. The error message states: Can't create the data needed to save settings. Make sure you have enough disc space. My hard drive has 90Gb of free space; can anyone shed some light on this? How can I get my files and settings back? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Server-to-server access in non-domain setting
by Guest Harold Mackey- 0 replies

Mighty Gurus, I have two win2003 servers. One hosts a web browser that gets PDF files from a reporting server. Previously the reporting server was W2k and the service which created the PDF ran under a user/pass that was identical to one on the W2k3 web server. After upgrading the reporting server to W2k3, I find that this Œtrick¹ no longer works. (You use the same trick in connecting an SQL server to a web server on different machines, if they are both W2k or less.) This is either a security enhancement or a configuration setting. Anyone know of a work-around? Thanks, Harry

Log in Error Message
by Guest Race- 7 replies

When I switch on my PC and get to the welcome page, instead of getting my user account name I get 2 error messages. One of which is the following: DETAIL - An I/O operation initiated by the registry failed unrecoverably. The registry could not read in, or write out, or flush, one of the files that contain the system's image of the registry. Then I get logged into a temporary desk top which loses all data each time I log off, and I have lost all my photos, document and music, etc but my internet connection works fine, luckily! Any help would be much appreciated please!!

VOB Files & Hadwaer Acceleration
by Guest Guest- 0 replies

Folks: For much of this month I have been using the latest version of RealPlayer to play VOB files on DVD. At first the video would be unstable (flickering) but the sound was clear & sharp. So I played around with the Hardware Acceleration settings until both video & audio were sharp & clear. Recently all this high quality has stopped. BOTH video & sound are now SLOW. Tweaking the Hardware Acceleration no longer makes any difference. I copied the DVDs to the hard drive but this did NOT improve audio or video output. Appreciate any suggestions. Is there any configuration change that I can make to return to great original quality of audi…

Hi there all you experts, I have a Compaq Pesario running XP SP2. It's connected to an ADSL 4 point router with an old HP running Windows 98SE. I've had a problem all along that I'm trying to fix. When I put my Pesario in standby mode it wakes up by its self. Could be a few minutes or an hour. Any suggestions. Thanks.

Vista, 2003 Terminal and printing
by Guest Freaky- 1 reply

Hey there, we're having issues with Windows Vista and printing from terminal server. This works fine when using WindowsXP. We have the issue with multiple printers. For example the Brother HL-2030. The Brother HL-2030 works fine with 2000/XP/2003 over terminal, but not with Vista, in the system logs there are also entries that a driver for Brother HL-2030 could not be found. According to the helpdesk this probably has to do with the different driver model for Vista. For 2000/XP/2003 the drivers are the same, but this isn't the case with Vista, therefore 2003 probably sees it as a different driver than the one it has. Can anyone shed more light on this a…

why all the .pdf e-mails?
by Guest Steve T- 15 replies

Just a general question for the group regarding spam/viruses. Is it just me or is there a sudden massive increase in .pdf file attachments in everybody else's e-mails too? I run Mailwasher Pro so I delete these at the server before they get to me. Is there some kind of virus or something circulating out there in the guise of a .pdf file? I probably get about 30 a week. Thanks, Steve T.

running programs on network drives
by Guest Rich Wethington- 11 replies

I recently replaced the server we use for terminal services. I have installed all of the programs that were on the old server on the new one. My problem is that any program that is actually on a network drive will not work. I get the following error. Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item. The programs work fine when run from the console, but not over terminal services. This server also has ISA 2000 running on it. The old one did also. Thanks, Rich Wethington

Please help....I will provide any info required to get to the bottom of this. I have Windows XP home, service pack 2. Regards, Caz x -- Don''t Worry, Be Happy !!!
