printing from the command prompt using print screen

I need to get an old dos application to print from the command prompt using the "Prt Scr" button instead of sending it to the clipboard. In windows 98 and windows 2000 you can clear the PrtSc check box in the properties of the shortcut to the dos application but this is not available in XP. Does anyone know a way round this problem. Thanks Lee C-PAC

Taskbar problem
by Guest Moif Murphy- 3 replies

Hi, I've never seen this before. A collegaue has minimised all her windows but they don't sit on the taskbar. They just end up on the desktop. I've had a look at the taskbar > toolbars options but nothing really stands out. She mentioned that she's inadvertantly pressed a key combination but can't remember which. Any idea on how to undo this? Screenshot here: http://img215.imageshack.us/my.php?image=hannahdesktopal0.jpg Thanks

Remote desktop for Administration mode. Suppose that two user are logged on the terminal server. (all 2 available slots are busy) Now what if an Administrator has to logon (emergency) from far away place on the internet side? I receive this error: The terminal server has exceeded the maximum number of allowed connections. How do I tell the server to throw a dice and disconnect or logoff someone (it doesn't matter who)? It is more important that the Administrator can logon. What options are available? 1. A configuration or registry setting? Where? 2. /console ? 3. What if I do not want to logoff the console session? offline files indicator and shortcut indicator
by Guest Robert Premuž- 1 reply
Hi! If the offline files feature is enabled in Windows XP, Windows Explorer puts a two-blue-arrows mark on icons of the files that are available offline. The mark is placed in the left bottom corner of the icon. (The two-blue-arrows overlay is contained in "%SystemRoot%\system32\cscui.dll".) On the other hand shortcuts are marked in Windows Explorer with a shortcut-arrow mark, also in the left bottom corner of the icon. (The shortcut-arrow overlay is contained in "%SystemRoot%\system32\SHELL32.DLL".) If you have a shortcut that is available offline, the two-blue-arrows mark is shown on the icon while the shortcut-arrow mark is not shown. So you have to l…

Re: Is Win XP disk now messed up??? Thank you Davy. Windows XP was the OS that was on the computer prior to the format. My friend would like to keep the same OS as well (besides his comp is too old to run Vista). My best bet is to slave in a new CD drive and try that. Just in case could the RAM pose as a problem?? I hope it's not the mobo.

Just did a clean installation of xp home (3 times) and encountered a 'problem' along the way at the same spot. During the installation process where we are suppose to enter a name/cd key, there is a flury of blinking and it will stop when I click the mouse to enter the cd key or user name. In a way the installation completes. Updated the window. Copy back my old data and it seems to be infected and clean/quaratine it with AVG. Its backdoor trojan and gabot. NowI lost my internet connection (wireless) and thre is no ip/subnet mask and gateway. When I try to uninstall the linksys wireless adapter, I was unable to installed as it gives this message "" The…

White List for Internet Access
by Guest Steve Freides- 3 replies

I have a client that is considering moving from a Novell environment to a Windows-server environment. One of the concerns is that we have a product we're using on the Novell side that provides "white list" web access functionality - users can only visit approved site, and the sites are maintained in text files on the server. Access is by groups, e.g., group A can visit all the sites listed in texfileA.txt, group B can visit al the sites listed in textfileA plus those in textfileB, and so on. I'd appreciate knowing about products that offer this functionality in a Windows environment. The client currently has SBS-2003 but will probably get all new s…

New PC - what do I do?
by Guest 3KINGS- 6 replies

I just bought a pc from an estate sale. The only thing I know is that it has Windows XP Pro installed. My current pc is running Win XP Home. What are the important differences I need to know between "home" and "pro"? Also, how do I find out what video card it has, memory, sound card, processor speed, and frontside bus speed (basically, how powerful is it)? If you are so inclined to help me out I would also like some opinions about the different settings I should set such as virtual memory, graphic accelerater, etc. Let me thank you in advance for any help you offer.

Destop.ini Opens with Each Reboot?
by Guest Mortimer Schnerd, RN- 3 replies

I'm visiting my father and naturally I've been enlisted to straighten out his machine. This one has me stumped. Every time he reboots, a text file called desktop.ini opens with Notepad. Here's the content of the file: [.ShellClassInfo] LocalizedResourceName=@%SystemRoot%\system32\shell32.dll,-21787 Does anybody have a clue how to stop this behavior? The file closes easily enough but I don't want to see it at all. Ideas? -- Mortimer Schnerd, RN Mschnerdatcarolina.rr.com
