Unable to Uninstall .NET Framework vers. 2 and 3
by Guest Ed Court- 0 replies
My "Add/Remove Programs" function in the Control Panel does not remove .NET Framework 2 and 3, for some reason. I made the mistake of installing these versions (don't ask me why, please). I can't do a restore because I will lose data that was added since the installation of the unwanted .NET Framework versions. Maybe I need to do a manual uninstall, but don't know how to go about it. I am afraid of deleting files (including registry entries) needed by other programs. Anybody know where I can find some detailed instructions? I am running Windows XP Professional, sp 2.

ISA Server 2004 - Web Publishing Problem
by Guest Aaron- 4 replies

Hello, I have setup a Web Publishing Rule in ISA Server 2004 and seem to be experiencing a problem when attempting to connect from outside the network. The exact error, "Error Code: 500 Internal Server Error. The target principal name is incorrect. (-2146893022)." The rule has a path that accesses a virtual directory for IIS and uses SSL. Within the network everything seems to be working properly. Based on some troubleshooting, I believe the problem may have to do with the certificates. When I go to the Bridging tab under the Properties for the Rule there is a check box that indicates, "Use a certificate to authenticate to the SSL Web server." When I click …

Large amount memory allocated to WSPSRV.exe
by Guest Aaron- 0 replies
I am running a Windows Server 2003 Small Business Server with Service Pack 2 and have recently noticed that the wspsrv.exe process seems to require a large amount of memory. While there is approximately 495 MB of physical memory, there is 1.4GB of virtual memory used for this process. I have restarted the server multiple times but once started the memory usage returns to the same state. There are 4GB of ram installed on this server. Is this normal activity? For awhile, the server has been running somewhat slow and I am concerned that this may be part of the reason. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Aaron

Since morning the one XP node on SBS domain is behaving funny. When I try to log on as X or Y profile or Administrator (local), one is able to log on and the wallpaper appears. No other icon is seen. The cursor can be moved and on pressing Alt+Ctr+Del the Window Security window opens by which the Task Manager can be seen or the computer can be shut down. Kindly suggest a remedy. Thanking you in advance. Rajiv K. Khandelwal

installing w2k alongside Vista
by Guest aa- 6 replies

I have a brand new HP computer with Windows Vista pre-installed. I need also w2k on the same mashine. I made a peimary partition using Vista built in Desk Manager. Now I have booted from w2k cd. Now I remembered from my experience with w2k-XP installations on one computer that they both use NTDETECT and NTLOADER files and is w2k is installed after XP, the XP would not boot because NTDETECT and NTLOADER installed by w2k are not compatible with XP. Questions: 1. Is it OK to have both Vista and w2k onthe same mashine? 2. Does Vista use NTDETECT and NTLOADER ? If it does, where do they reside so that I could back them up? I failed to find them, but this is…

Windows XP suddenly asking for user passwords?
by Guest rich1lenore- 2 replies

This is the 3rd time this has happened in the last year. Suddenly at the Welcome Screen all the user accounts are being prompted for passwords. There are no passwords set. I have in the past reset the screensaver and power options to no password, and run the control userpasswords2 to change the password option in the Admin control panel. How and why are these settings getting changed, and how can I keep it from happening again? OK, I may have thought of an answer to the "why." I was moving some files from one user profile to another, and right after that I tried to switch user profiles. When I got to the Welcome Screen, that's when I started getting t…
