Admin Pack
by Guest Ron Hinds- 1 reply

Where do I find what used to be called the "Admin Pack" in Windows 2000 for XP? I'm referring to utilities that allow you to manage an Active Directory domain, DNS, etc., from a XP Professional system. In Windows 2000 Professional, those utilities were located in an installation called ADMINPAK.MSI located on the CD. I found what I thought was that toolset on the XP CD, but it turned out to be a set of command-line utilities the purpose of which I am unsure.

Just upgraded from 1GB to 4GB on the Domain Controller. The motherboard sees all 4GB, on the System Memory check, only 3.3GB is seen and in the OS, only 3.58 is seen. BIOS or Windows problem? IIRC, there is a fix for it, I just can't seem to remember what or where it is.

The Windows firewall is turned off, should be no other anti-attack software installed. What kind of problem this might be? Thanks,

Shutdown Problem
by Guest David Andrews- 6 replies

I just upgraded my Window 98 to Windows 2000 Pro on my PC and it is not shutting down correctly. It starts to shut down, I can hear the drives in the box wind down, then I get a blue screen with a responsive mouse pointer ???. CTRL_ALT_DELETE will do nothing, nor will the power button on the tower. I have to kill power to the the tower, press the button to reboot. Even If I start up in safe mode and then shut down I still have a problem. The Windows 98 on this system ran correct. I know, I know I'm behind the times..... MB is about 1 1/2 years old, Gigabyte GA-7VM400M, Athlon XP 1600+ 256MB RAM

Dot as domain name with TSE and Win 2003 Server
by Guest tnivon- 0 replies

Hi, I'm working on the gina, and I use LogonUser to log on users via smart cards. For the domain name, Windows API states this lpszDomain [in] A pointer to a null-terminated string that specifies the name of the domain or server whose account database contains the lpszUsername account. If this parameter is NULL, the user name must be specified in UPN format. If this parameter is ".", the function validates the account by using only the local account database. But when trying to do this, I have as result 'Invalid domain name format" If I let this field blank (not empty) I can connect. Is this "dot" fonctionnality a win 2003 issue Thanks for …

I bought this all in one the other day and the printer works without problems. Having problems with the scanner though. When I turn it on I get Cannot install this hardware An error occurred during the installation of the device The required section was not found in the INF. I've tried using different ports & cables and re-installing One weird thing I've now found out is that when I goto the scanners & camera section in control panel, when I select "Add Device" nothing happens. Anyone out there have a clue? Thank you

Hi all I have 3 three partitions on my exchange server. Exc2003 SP2 and Win Ser2003. The C drive was only made 11GB when the servers was setup but the D and E drive is 55GB and 200GB respectively. The freen space on C cramped from 3.41G to 2.59GB in 2 weeks time. How can i stop this as i heard terrible stories when C run out of disk space. The C\windows shows Size 7,13GB and Size on Disk 5,60GB (whats the difference?). Any way that i can get this folder smaller? Any way that i can take some of the space of the bigger drives and add it to the smaller one. They did build RAID 5 into the servers. Will this technology cater for this type of scenatio or m…

newb - XP install disk says there are no hard drives
by Guest djneill@iwebworks.com- 2 replies

Hi, Background: I am a newb. I have a pretty good Dell machine (3 GHz, 1 GB RAM) that I just don't use much, and I had used a Ubuntu live disk to make a dual-boot. Now, I am selling it to a friend and I was going to try to format it. Well, I decided to try to boot from the XP CD and after getting to the 3-way: install, recovery console, exit, I went ahead and tried recover but it says there are no hard drives detected. Same if I try to just install XP. But in the BIOS, the hard drive is there. And it works fine booting to either XP or Ubuntu still. I googled and found that the SATA HDD drivers might need to be obtained on a floppy, and have it ready…

Hi All I hope I can find a solution to my problem on these news Groups. I decided recently to implement Exchange 2007 server into my domain.
