Stop Error

I am getting the blue screen Stop: C000021a {Fatal System Error} Logon Process terminated error upon boot. There were some viruses on the PC which were removed in safe mode with AVG. However, I think the lsass.exe was terminated in the task manager during the process. Any Ideas? Would the lsass.exe file cause this stop error? Thanks.

Sound card not visible after OS Re-Instalation.
by Guest dareys- 6 replies

Greetings, Due to miscellaneous problems, I just reformated my hard drive and re-installed the OS from disks. Unfortunately, in spite of the fact that the BIOS indicates that sound functionality is enabled, the hardware menu under the system folder does not show the sound hardware and or drivers. Perhaps the built-in sound card has gone bad? Or is anyone else aware of any BIOS/OS parameter and/or installation I can execute to re-add the sound hardware and drivers? Otherwise, any tips on pinpointing the sound card as the faulty component would be appreciated. Thank you for your help. Jean-Pierre

Copy Paste Issue with XP Pro
by Guest Greg- 0 replies

All the sudden I get this message when trying to right click and drag a file to a directory on our network: Do you want to move or copy files from this zone? And it has the words Internet Explorer in the upper left hand corner of the dialouge box. Typically when I right click and drag a file to a directory, it gives me the option to copy or cut and so forth...And this is only happening on network drives. It works normally on my local drive. Did I set something that is causing this now? I've rebooted the machine. I'm running XP Pro SP3. I installed SP3 a couple of weeks ago and didn't have this problem then. Just started today. Thanks, Greg

by Guest Scott- 6 replies

Having a issue with a Win 2003 R2 server, Server is a DC, Exchange 2003, DNS, DHCP and File and Print server. Issue started about 2 weeks ago users will not be able to get to any shared folders or print. Exchange is still up and running with out a problem so the network card is not the issue. TCP/IP TOE is disabled. I've even completly disabled Symanted Endpoint Protection. But still having the issue. Nothing shows up in application or system logs. So far the only thing I have found is to do a reboot of the server to get it back up and running.

I have the antivirus xp 2008. One microsoft discussion group suggested that one easy way of getting rid of this monster is to go to system tools and create a new system restore point and then restore the system. I tried to do this but the only highlited system restore date for the month of august was today's day at a time after my computer became infected. Is it possible to set another resore point even though no other dates in august are highlited. This virus is reaking disaster on my computer. Thanks in advance/ Al -- al

Creating a boot CD
by Guest Lex- 16 replies

I want to create a boot CD for my PC with XP. It looks difficult, I'm not an IT wizard but am proficient with tinkering around and following instructions; I have read articles about how to do this and it looks like a) you can create a boot disc - floppy disc version - if you have a floppy drive. If you don't (I don't) you can buy an external floppy drive that links in via a USB. b) OR, you can go through the process of creating a CD which requires some skill. Other tasks linked to this are: Creating a copy of XP files with all your preferences saved including drivers etc...via Slipstreaming. ALso a bit scary and complex to me. I also think …
