From: "leap frog vista" <leapfrog@vizztal.com> | there is a known solution to the incorrect display of htm, html, mht icons | on XP with the IE7- and office 2003 combo... | its here: http://windowsxp.mvps.org/htmicon.htm | However when I try to run this FIX under vista, the exe says that's its made | only for XP!!! | I am running vista now.. and the icons are changed to the blue IE icon. | I am sure the fix works since it did the trick for XP many times.. but it | wont run with vista. | Is there another version of this fix for vista or what is the work around to | make it work? | I tried running it in compatibility mode and admin, but no go.…

Hi, When I plugged the drive in "Verbatim Store n Go 1GB" after adding some files to it from another computer, as I have done many times, XP went and installed the drive as something else using different drivers! Now I have uninstalled it, rebooted, inserted the drive again and same result! It now see's it as a "USBest USB2FlashStorage USB Device". Whats going on?? How do I get it back to normal? It shows up in my computer, but when I try to open it, it says "please insert a disk in drive f:". Drive shows up as zero size. Thanks for reading, any info would be great!

Upgrading Win98 to Win2000
by Guest letterman@invalid.com- 12 replies

Has anyone successfully upgraded Win98se to Windows 2000? If you did, were there any problems? I am considering this. Of course I'll test it out on a backup copy of my Win98 installation. I know the purists will say to start from a fresh installation, but there is now way I will even consider reinstalling 8 years of programs. If it dont work, I'll just stick with 98. -OR- The other option would be to install Win2000 as a dual boot. But if I was to do this, is is possible to import all the installed applications from Win98 without reinstalling all of them? thanks

Media Player 11 and CD Player Volume Control
by Guest Mark- 2 replies

How can I get Media Player 11 to output sound to the CD Player volume control rather than Wave volume control, especially whilst listening to CDs and Internet radio. The old Win2K CD Player can do this and it's great for separating the audio CD sound from that of Wave Windows sound effects (opening windows etc.) so that the latter don't blast out whilst listening to CDs etc. Thanks Mark

M572 processor upgrade update - mainly for Franc

Hi Franc, I DL'd the utils you mentioned, and decided to just go ahead and flash the BIOS with the "990224sj" hacked version. I figured I could always go back. Well, it worked fine and I am now running an AMD K-6 475MHz CPU set at 418 MHZ (or something) on a "300MHz max" board!!! (It runs at 475 as well and MIGHT even run at 500 or 550 but I don't want to overdo things. Better to "underclock" (?) than to overclock in this situation, I think.) It took about 50 reboots, fiddling with the RAM sticks, and several intermittent "windows protection errors" but everything seems OK now. The hacked BIOS is INFINITELY more customizable than the origina…
