Hey guys, My computer kept on giving me 3 error messages. So I googled them and ran into a company called pc-kitchen: http://www.pc-kitchen.com They said that their registrycleaner could solve my errors. I downloaded the program and it solved 2 of my errors. Now i have one message that appears. Will buying their full version fix the last one? Has anybody even heard of this product\company and share their experience? Thanx, AndySacks AndySacks@live.com

WMF patch - gdihook.dll infected by trojan?
by Guest Franc Zabkar- 21 replies

I've been using Paolo Monti's "GDI32 / WMF Patch" for nearly a year now but it was only recently that AVG told me that the gdihook.dll component file was infected with the BackDoor.Hupigon4.ADUA trojan. A scan at Virustotal resulted in 18 out 36 antivirus software detecting the same malware. Symantec and TrendMicro were two that didn't detect it. I'm wondering whether this is a false positive. Here are the results: http://www.users.on.net/~fzabkar/gdihook_dll_scan.htm The package is delivered as a single install.exe file. When this file is scanned by Virustotal, Sophos identifies "Sus/Madcode-A" malware. All other antivirus products detect nothing. I…

When the user then deletes some files or folders the ydo NOT go to neither the bin on the server nor the bin on the users pc. How can I get a log of "who deleted what and when" on the server ? Best regards KSor, Denmark

I use the Run command selom and unually only for Msconfig and Regedit. However, sometimes I find in the 'memory' other commands, like the one for the Firewall. I assume that these are acused by viruses/malware. Is that common? Is there a way of blocking the Windows Firewall so that no introsuion is possible? Thank you JB

Reboot command no longer works in Task Scheduler
by Guest Oliver- 8 replies

The following bat script (as a file.bat) which I put on a task scheduler no longer works (W2K service pack 4). Shutdown.exe /L /R /T:120 /C How can I fix this? The shutdown has to work on each Saturday to refresh the server memory. Also, as a related solution to the above problem, how I can get the event viewer to email me an alert when it triggers certain ID code? Our main problem is that the server shutdowns expectedly and I suspect it is the event viewer getting full. So I am hoping someone will have the solutions. Oliver

But when staff take thier laptops home, they can nolonger logon to thier accounts, because the domain is unavailable. They used to be able to, and i am no aware of any changes to the Group Policies that would stop them. I am really stuck on this, can anyone help? Thank you.

by Guest JHL- 4 replies

I recently had a HD failure and had installed a new 320 GB SATA drive and reinstalled XP Home SP3. I created several restore points on day one as I slowly rebuild what I had. However today, 3 days later I do not have a previous restore point? I have enabled restore points to C drive only, but at it's maximum it's only showing 36629 MB. My HD has 290 GB free. Help is appreciated.

by Guest Doug M.- 5 replies

Hi I've copied a batch file script that I found on the web to force ntbackup to use a removable external USB hard drive. However, the ntbackup stops with the message "the media is not blank - do you want to overwrite?" or something to that effect. Since the script runs late at night, the backup doesn't run. Thanks in advance for the help. Here's the script: rsm.exe refresh /LF"external USB" sleep 30 for /f "Tokens=1-4 Delims=/ " %%i in ('date /t') do set dt=%%i-%%j-%%k-%%l for /f "Tokens=1" %%i in ('time /t') do set tm=-%%i set tm=%tm::=-% set dtt=%dt%%tm% C:\WINNT\system32\NTBACKUP.EXE backup "@C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Setting…

How to build XP Embedded?
by Guest Hogweed- 0 replies

Hi – we build gaming machines here, many of which contain ruggedised PC’s running XP Embedded. We’re now upgrading our hardware, and my employer is willing to let me have several unused motherboards for very little. The boards have XP Embedded licences and COA with them, and I’d like to build them into PC’s, but the Embedded build we use is pretty minimal, so I’d like to put full XP Pro on them. If this is legit (my very limited understanding is that XPe can be built pretty much any way you like, up to a full XP Pro build), any tips as to how I might go about preparing an image or install CD? More of a hobby, ie for learning, than anything else really.…
